Bureau is lovely - perhaps a cut walnut rubbed on that scuffed area? Is the inside in as good condition?I am the master of my fate; I am the captain of my soulRepaid mtge early (orig 11/25) 01/09 £124616 01/11 £89873 01/13 £52546 01/15 £12133 07/15 £NILNet sales 2024: £202

I'm not sure what I will do with that blemish. The inside is almost perfect as well, the edge of the lip/desk is damaged which I think I can repair using a little bit of stain.
Sorry to sound stupid but actually I'm not at all sorry. What would the walnut do?
Right. Money. Updated late because I've had a hectic time. Won't go into detail but a close friend is going through some pretty big changes in her life so I've been with her and buying more takeaways that I am willing to admit. It's also a few birthdays so gifts and expensive dinners galore.
Obviously money has fallen due to acquiring the car. Mum lent me 3k which agrieves me. However payment plan set up and already started. I really do hate borrowing money from her when I should be the one supporting her.
However, given that the car was £5k, my liquid assets have fallen by about £150 less than that. Given all of the additional expenses this month I am happy.
When checking my mortgage, they stated that my flat has probably gone up by 15k or so. Clearly madness, usually I don't pay any attention to this but I saw that they think I own 30% and no. I own 24.09% you crazy bank programme.
Finally have a working boiler! Only took 5 months and 3 failed attempts. Party over at my flat!
So I've been to the car boot and charity shops and I want to share/brag about my bargains. I got furniture pulls at about 20p a knob, a clamp at about half price, linkee (this is a game) for £3 and a cat fountain for £4. Then in the charity shops I got these pretty flower glass plate things (I'll try to find the link) for £9 for two, a matching bowl that mum wants for her birthday, a new bag for £2 and a brand new rug from Dunelm that I have been eyeing up for £15 (I think it might be £25). Basically I am living my best life right now.4 -
The walnut can stain scratched wood, covering up scratches. Alternatively you can buy a pack of wax sticks from amazoon in several different wood shades to cover scratches - less than £10 from memory. Or just polish it up and accept scratches happen and are part of the bureau's charm and life story
Such a positive last sentence on your post - love it! 💜I am the master of my fate; I am the captain of my soulRepaid mtge early (orig 11/25) 01/09 £124616 01/11 £89873 01/13 £52546 01/15 £12133 07/15 £NILNet sales 2024: £202 -
I'll definitely have a look into it greent. Right now I'm not doing a lot with the furniture honestly. The bureau works great as a desk as it's so big.
Been a bit of a spendy week. Had to buy a new vacuum cleaner which is upsetting because this one was fairly new. I tried washing it, taking it apart and put back together again, tried talking to it nicely but nothing worked! Just used the new one and it has picked up so much so clearly my floor really did need a good hoover.
I woke up at noon today. I felt like a teenager. Do not know why it happened but clearly I needed it. Just a bit annoying since I have so much cleaning to do in so little time.
Work is struggling and I have no idea why. My industry isn't that badly affected (in terms of working coming in) so I'm at a loss as to why promised raises are being cancelled and cash flow is so poor. Clearly there is mismanagement as the workload is massive and people in my team are threatening to quit due to it. Not sure I want to look for new work until I feel better. Just not sure what to do, should I look and face more stress potentially causing my current issues to get worse or stay and be over worked and under appreciated with no raise in sight.
Regardless, I'm typing all of that out just to delay putting the washing on the horse.3 -
Hope work gets back on track soon for you. Personally, I think there are always waves of discontent/reduced function. You will know soon enough if it becomes untenable. Ahh well. Things went a bit weird today! Err, one of the senior staff members quit and left by 10am.. Clearly it's not just me feeling the pressure!
I'm not actually too concerned. I need to have a think about what I want to do next. Also I miss my nus card. There's half a chance that I will decide to do a course for the hell of it. Ahahaha what a total waste, it'd probably be cheaper to just pay full price than do another course.3 -

You're no fun greent!!
Ruining all my very unadventurous ambitions!
On completely different news: I'm going to have to burn my flat to the ground. There were SIX spider attacks today. There's nothing for it. Goodbye flat, it's been swell!4 -
I'm being plagued by spiders as well at the moment. It feels like every time I sit on the loo I see another one lurking in the same place - one even crawled round the door to lurk there while I was on the loo the other day 😡!Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)
