I want you all to know what a dumb dumb I happen to be.

Yesterday I went to collect my prescription, caused much commotion when they couldn't find it. Already collected. In fact it was already in my possession as I had been given it on Tuesday, but did I remember? No! Did I tell the people at the pharmacy that I absolutely did not have them and was freaking out a bit about running out of meds? Of course! Did I look like a prat? Massively!

However, I went into a couple of shops and one of them was paperchase. They had a sale on for 50% off a lot of their christmas stock, then they had another 50% off! I got myself a rainbow christmas tree (60cm big) for £3, originally £12, a lights set that is leafy for £3, also originally £12 and a christmas dinosaur bag thing for £1.50 originally £6. I got much more, I was clearly the only madman in the shop because everyone else bought about 3 items each and I filled my basket plus things in my arms. I regret nothing. I paid £22 and change in all. It's all things for decorating and wrapping and hen night things.

Cue my being worried about money.

I have recently found out that I am required to pay £400 for the room for the wedding I'm bridesmaid at. Horrifying does not cover it, so since then I have been trying to cut down on spending. For example, stopping my ridiculous eating bought lunches when baked beans are good enough for me!

Still looking at cars, I'm just not sure how to choose one. Any suggestions welcome!

Lastly, I have a hospital appointment on Tuesday so hopefully I will be sorted and I will stop being a total poo.

A £22 spend in Paperchase is excellent! Every time I forget myself and wander in there, I soon scurry out again once I've seen the prices 😮!

£400 is a huge amount of money to spend on someone else's wedding - is there any way you could share a room with someone else/several others to bring the cost down? I'm sure you won't be the only one that's horrified. You could sell it as freeing up a room for someone else to stay in (that may or may not work, depending on how many guests are allowed at that point....🤔)

What kind of thing are you looking for in a car? Big/small? Sporty/economical? Manual/automatic? Old/new? Budget? If you can think of those types of answers then certain makes and models will present themselves to you. Are you looking to replace yours before it dies, or be ready to pounce when it does?

I want my next car to be one where you are sat up a bit higher.  I drove a Renault Captur a few years ago and really liked it, but I only drove it on short journeys around town.  I hired a Vauxhall Mokka a couple of years ago when I needed to go on a long journey - but it was so noisy on the motorway.  I think if I was to upgrade I would spend a bit more and go for something like a VW T-Roc, safety and comfort.  And I would love an automatic too.  But, of course at the moment the only driving I do is to the supermarket, so no new car here unless our current car starts playing up.  DD bought a car last year and she bought a 3 year old Polo, I've driven it a few times and its really lovely.

KP I love a Christmas bargin at the 'wrong end' of the year. I'm usually the person buying decorations between Christmas and New Year, I pack things straight away with the receipt and get two lovely surprises next year - decos I'd forgotten I bought, and how little I paid for them! I have a collection of beautiful glass baubles all between 50-70% off built up over years.

I honestly can't get on with the (seemingly recent) assumption that guests are expected to to as invested (literally) in a wedding as the bride and groom.

Hope the hospital appt. is good for you.

So glad you're crazy like me chigle! I hadn't thought of packing it away with the receipt, I've been admiring it like a madman whoops! Would love to hear your favourite bargain.

The hospital went well, I have tests to do this coming week which includes being sedated. First time for that so that'll be an experience.

Been having a mad couple of weeks at work. Everything is urgent for some unknown reason. I did something different this week and had to do some forecasting which I haven't done as an accountant, sounds silly but having something a bit different was fun!

Once I feel better, I will probably start to look for a new job. And maybe start looking at dating.

Oh and the boilerman will possibly be helping me this week as well. Busy busy busy!

I went to a town (a small one) fully masked without needing to be there for the first time. It was so weird being around people again.

Just chopped off the legs to my bathroom cabinet (someone can't measure) so feel free to bask in my DIY glory. I am ridiculously pleased with myself.

@killerpeaty the biggest Chritsmas bargin was a £35 twiggy wreath thingy that I got for £5.50 three or four years ago, this year it didn't go up on the wall because I put it down on a side table and when I looked round, the cat was curled up inside it - it stayed where it was complete with sleeping puss until twelth night!

I was sedated for a gastroscopy last year - at least they told me I was, I felt VERY present and still threw up over the HCP doing the procedure! Hope it works better for you :)

Ooooh, a christmas cat bed of joy <3 You can never hang it it back on the wall.

Ahh, that's the test I'm having! But since I throw up most days anyway it won't make a difference.

KP, I've had a couple, despite what I said, it is better to opt for sedation than not - my best advice is take spare clothing just in case you do throw up! Really hope it's ok for you.

As for the christmas cat bed - it was also on top of one of the outdoor seat pads that she's taken a liking to that we didn't put away with the others because, well, spoilt bloody puss!
