Sorted - multi car cover, mirrored ncd & protection. Very inexpensive for what it is.
Hope their website is correct, will be ringing them this morning.
Funnily, i've been pondering a small Caddy sized van to facilitate a side project i'm going to work on. I havent seen much movement yet, but in theory markets like pickups and vans are likely to be hit by the upcoming downturn.
Would be interesting to hear if anyone has direct experience?

Why? So you can argue with them?

I hope you've got the no claims discount on your home insurance protected too Fred. It's always worth paying extra every year to stop your premium going up too much when you have an occasional claim.

How many browsers do you have open? Makes posting under different aliases very easy and quick.

You aren't fooling anyone The Freds.

We've never had anyone bash into the house and drive off, yet!
Sadly the same can't be said for parking in public places/a no fault claim.
It's a miniscule price to pay as part of a risk management strategy, hedging of sorts. :D

  • of course it's a scam.

My insurance is £600 with 7 or 8 years NCD.

When I first started driving my insurance was £1000 on the first year.

They wanted me to get NC protection for an extra £200 a year.

I figured the money I would save by not buying the NC protection for all those years will far outweigh any premium increase I was to get in the event of an accident.

in any case, based on my drivining, I know Im far less like to be at fault in a RTC.

The only reason the extra for protected NCD would be if the insurers considered you a high risk.
My most recent policy renewal (with Hastings direct) was £358 with protected NCD and £342 without it so a difference of only £16 a year.
That's hardly what I would call a scam.

Although if the difference was £200 a year it's still not a scam as they are quoting figures and leaving it up to the customer to make a choice.

Hey Mr Expert Driver, what happens if the other driver is uninsured, or the insurance company disagrees with your assessment of your driving and decides you are partly at fault? What about a hit and run?

Never heard of anyone using divining to determine when they are going to have an accident. I thought it was normally used to search for water.

I did point out the two-browser trick earlier. Sometimes I think I'm wasting my fingers... :D
