Yes it is insurance on top of insurance. As we have already discussed insurance is to pay bills you could never afford to pay yourself. So I pay for car insurance to cover massive claims and I have to by law. I can easily afford an increase on my insurance premium so I don't need that extra insurance.

I could easily afford it to, as could most if not all on here.

But if i'd had an accident that was deemed to be my fault or 50 / 50 i'd begrudge paying them more than i had to, hence why i am happy to pay the few £s extra per year.

Its not something thats a must have, its down - like most of the binary views you have about things - to each persons circumstances and preferences.

The general rule (except where The Law requires it) is "If you can afford to replace it, don't insure it"

You have just applied the general rule- doesn't make you a visionary I'm afraid :D
I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

You take a binary black and white view on things based on your own circumstances.

What you lack is objectivity. Just because people dont chose to do as you do or live as you live doesnt make them wrong.

Most of us on here are here to help others and to get advice ourselves. Generally for any given issue or question a consensus is formed.

You and your alter ego 246 between you produce either an extreme binary view that distracts those actually trying to help the original poster or derail the thread with nonsense, or both.

    Sad really.

And presented in the usual smug arrogant way too.

You are paying them more than you have to. Year after year after year.

Yes, thats how insurance works - you pay an amount to cover you for a given risk.

Whats your stance on travel insurance for foreign travel?

    Or home contents insurance?

Presumably - "dont get sick" and "dont get robbed"?

And if you have an at fault incident you'll be paying more than you have to come renewal time.

Out of curiosity then - these extreme black and white with no shades of grey views of yours - whereby you sit in smug judgement that you are right and everyone else is stupid and wasting money - how would you feel if someone took your advice and ended up costing themselves £££s?

Perhaps now declining no claims bonus protection and then having an accident down the line or buying a couple of spanners and making a balls of servicing or fitting a timing belt to their car?

What then - you just wash your hands of it and continue to hide behind your userid(s)?

Well at least it would be cheaper than taking it to a garage for them to make a balls of servicing it or making a balls of fitting a timing belt. Garages just wash their hands of it. That's what happened to my relative remember. I have never recommended that people don't do things that they are not happy to do.

Yes i'm sure your prejudices will be cold comfort to them.

I think you need to read your posting history buddy.

Where you dont give an absolute black or white extreme view answer on something, you belittle people who chose to advise (or do) something different. Hardly objective.

But sure you can just wash your hands of it when it happens, like you're doing now.
