Did you pay via direct debit if so go to the bank and get it cancelled as soon as possible put yourself in control of the situation not them. They can deal with a cancellation request on working days the argument that the relevant department is not in is in a company of that size laughable stick to your guns and cancel.
 good luck

Are you guys Sky or Virgin Media?!?
I called Virgin Media today and got told I don't need to give a months notice, just call up a couple of days before...
I recorded this conversation as proof but the quality isn't too good so would appreciate if any other VM customers have been told the same...?

First thing ring them log the call and the details of the person you dealt with. Secondly if they state that they cannot cancel then simply tell them to activate a cancellation request to the department they have not comebacks as you have given them notice of cancellation. The onus is on them to make sure it goes through ; secondly cancel payment meathod if done by DD its easier than Credit or Debit card payment. If you are going to take them up on any offer make sure its done via Direct Debit it puts control of your funds back to you rather than them. Thirdly follow the phonecall up with a registered cancellation letter so that they cannot argue that they have not received the cancellation notice. If you cancel via DD they will send you letters requesting payment keep them if the contiune to haras you for payment. Fourthly make sure you keep an eye on and around your payment date to Setanta as well as they use different reference numbers for their direct debit payments not a single number generated.

Do Setanta offer those wanting to cancel a discount if you continue with the service?
(say £5 a month for the next 3 months). I went for the 2 free months deal.
I enjoying watching the Prem football but don't watch anything else on it so it's not worth £10 a month to me.0

I cancelled on 24th December giving 30 days notice.
I was asked if I would like it for a further 3 months at £5 per month, but I never really watched it anyway, so refused.0
