  • Thanks to the poster for the 0191 number, got through 1st time after fruitless efforts yesterday on other numbers, went round the houses to try and keep me but managed to get cancelled and gave notice, no probs and all sorted now so thanks to everyone whos offered advice

    :money:
  • Just tried to cancel my Setanta sports using the 0191 telephone number and, surprise surpise, was offered another three months at £5.00 per month. This will give me 5 months Setanta for £16.00. An absolute bargain.

All you need to say is that you already have Sky Sports and paying another £9.99 a month is too much to spend on two lots of sport.

The customer services rep had to go away and talk to a supervisor!! and with no prompting made me the offer.

Just hope the OH lets me watch some of the games!!!!

If your an avid footy fan instead of paying sly and sultana why not invest in a foreign viewing card(they are readily available throughout the uk),you'd need another sat receiver and dish but it works out a damn site cheaper in the long run.
    2 kWp SEbE , 2kWp SSW & 2.5kWp NWbW.....in sunny North Derbyshire17.7kWh Givenergy battery added(for the power hungry kids)
  • Phoned up the 0191 number, got through straight away and cancelled no problem. Was offered, and declined, the £5 per month for three months.

Called Virgin Media yesterday and cancelled my Setanta with immediate effect... no 30 days notice, no hassle, was off within 2 hours.

Would say it was a great freebie, but to be honest I didn't even watch one full match on it...

I cancelled my DD a couple of weeks ago - just phoned up loyalty team to cancel, and got told by a snotty woman that i have broken the t&c's of my contract by not having an active payment set-up, and due to having no active payment they stopped my viewing last week (i hadn't even noticed lol), and my account has been system cancelled!
She said she would make a note of my call to cancel on the system, as i said i have made a note of her name, date, and time that i called to cancel as proof it was within the stated cancellation time of up to 15 Jan.

But looks like if you cancel your dd, as you have no active payment set up, they cancel your viewing.
Funny how i can't find anything about that in their t&c's here

Decided to cancel my sub early as, knowing me, I'd forget and end up paying for a full priced month.

Got through on 0870 050 6950 and was put through to cancellations (after being on hold for 10 mins).

Cancelled almost without a hitch, only problem being that they said it had a 30 day cancellations period and advised I would be charged on the 24th Jan - however I replied that I had kept the T&Cs and that its said......

"6. Freeview™ and satellite customers - to cancel with effect from the end of the first 2 months, call Setanta between 26th December 2007 and 15th January 2008. Virgin Media, BT Vision and Tiscali customers, contact your operator.
    7. A 30 day cancellation notice from next billing date required thereafter."

.....with which he put me on hold, came back a minute later and admitted his mistake and that I would be cancelled with no charge.

Of course cancelled my Direct Debit online just to be sure!

PS Wasnt offered anything to stay - he obviously wanted to get off home as it was after 9pm!
  • I made a big mistake signing up for Setanta! DH loves it and won't let me cancel it now! Do you think I will be offered the 3months @£5 per month deal if I phone and threaten to cancel? If it goes wrong and Setanta cancel then I'm in big trouble!

I did cancel but was offered £5 deal straight away when mentioned I was leaving
