Nope youll get another letter and subsequent letters to ask you to come back
  • Exactly the same as me, cancelled on jan 4th, then got carbon copy of original joining letter dated jan 8th and today got 'we cannot get payment from your bank'. just going to send them letter saying they can't get the money because i've already cancelled etc and ignore anything else that arrives.

I have also had £9.99 taken out of my account despite calling to cancel it a week before 15th January. I hope I have scribbled the cancellation reference somewhere. They have really annoyed me now!!!

    Hi

I was told to write to Setanta Sports, PO BOX 200, Kirkldy, Fife KY2 6WD and state that the did not process the cancellation quickly enough and should get the refund. I will send this letter by recorded delivery. I still don't quite trust them but I can only wait and see.

    regards

fortunately I cancelled my direct debit after I rang up to cancel so they got no more money from me. I got the letters mentioned above about not being able to get the money from the bank and to ring up to sort it out.

So I rung up to find out what on earth was going on - they had record of me ringing up but they said I took out the 3 months at £5/mnth when in fact I had cancelled! When I refuted that he went away and "spoke to someone" - when he came back he said to ignore the letters as they were a standard letter sent out when you cancel

So, either they purposely put the wrong thing on the computer when I cancelled (but they did actually cut me off early) or they really do send out "standard letters" after cancellation in the hope of conning people into paying up (they included direct debit forms with these letters too)

Something should be done about these people, its outragous what they are doing

Completely agree - I have made a point of telling everyone I know how they treat their customers and people with similar experiences should do the same, so their tactics hopefully dont reap dividends for them. Its a real shame as I would like to see more competitors to Sky's monolopy but this really isn't the way to do it.

Hoping its the end of it for you - I had another call from them a few days ago asking if I wanted to rejoin at £5 a month for 3 months, so I kinda took that as cinfirmation they FINALLY cancelled my account. Of course I said thanks, but no thanks!
