Spent 52.48 across two supermarkets today, and updated my worksheet of all my household spends.

The grocery side is doing ok so I'm going to try and stretch the money by eating more out of the freezer and from the veg plot so that I can do a couple of things in advance mainly for Christmas or to make the best use out of the things from the veg plot.

This week it's going to be Christmas pudding and Green tomato chutney. I had quite a number of the items already in the cupboards so shopping wise it wasn't too bad. What I'm lacking at the moment is time to do it but I'm determined to find time even if I have to skip hoovering for a day or two. :)
  • We have spent £69.82 since last post.

I'm having tofu vegetable stir fry for dinner.
OH will be having beef stir fry for dinner.

    £144.26/£215.
    £70.74 Left.
I am a vegan woman. My OH is a lovely omni guy :D

PipneyJane does the sliced parsnip get mixed in, or do you sort of line the tin with it and fill with nut mixture? I'd like to try this recipe!

I've had another couple of no spend days. Tonight's supper will be leftovers from yesterday (veggie shepherds pie) but tomorrow I will need to buy rice. We're low on a couple of spices so may take DD to our local Pakistani shop to get everything.

You mash them in and process until combined/smooth.

A massive £107.03 added to my total today, after a trip down to L!dls. At least £20 of that was various Christmassy treats like 4 tubs of Twiglets @ £1.75 each; our local supermarkets will want at least £3 per tub! We're more or less stocked-up now, but a couple of the shelves were empty; no chopped tomatoes (but we're still eating home-grown) and no chickpeas, which is slightly anxiety-provoking in a household with 2 vegetarians, though we do have dried ones to fall back on. Luckily they did have halloumi...

Need to be a bit careful now, but I should be able to make it without too much trouble...

ETA: agreeing withMerlin's Beard; £25 per person per week is more or less what I work to, though we also have a small menagerie to cater for, hence the extra £20 per month. Obviously I can make economies of scale, catering for 4 mostly (but anything up to 9 at weekends) but we don't stint & I'm rarely in a position to hunt for yellow stickers. I could do it for less - thank you, Jack Monroe! And umpteen "frugalistas" from the early days of the WWW - but am lucky enough not to have to. Your daughter should be fine, Narola.

    Hi all

About to catch up on thread but have been very absent again due to working a lot of overtime and just having no time! Will add recipes to index too.

I'm planning on putting up the November Challenge today, again a couple of days earlier than normal but just in case life gets in the way again..!

Came down with something end of last week and it's been developing over the weekend and since, to the point where I took today off work. Feel better for it! Not a cold, more throat and chest/cough. And I think a temperature as I've been very shivery and feeling cold even though my skin is hot! Light headed too. Oh well, chilling today is a pleasant interlude and allows me to read the thread!

£10.12 left in the budget to last till end of play next Thursday. Do-able as always if sensible.

Elsiepac, I hope you feel better soon. Take care of yourself and don’t go to work until you are feeling better.

I have Sunday’s shopping trip to report. £20.86 spent in MrT’s. Amongst other things, the 4 for £1 offer is back on their “value” chopped tomatoes (known as “Summer Pride” now), so we bought two trays (24 cans total). The tomatoes and a bottle of Jack Daniels Honey were paid for by Clubcard vouchers, so aren’t included in the total above.

We also scored a couple of packets of YS Finest Ranch Steak at £3.60 each. Each pack contained 2 steaks and, while nice, they aren’t worth their original listed price of £6. I will only buy them again if marked down.

Finally, we scored a couple of packets of YS sausages (£1.30 each) and two large YS boxes of mushrooms (at 75p each). The sausages are of the “boring” variety, so one pack is now simmering away in tonight’s dinner, Spicy Sausage & Lentil Casserole from The Really Good Life blog. It’ll be served over bulgar wheat.

The above spending brings my total for the month to £70.57/£125.10 leaving £54.53 for the remainder of the month.

    - Pip

PS: In case you are wondering, the sausages and one pack of steak were frozen immediately after we got home from the shops. I defrosted tonight’s sausages overnight last night.
