Think I need to have some syns today as I've actually ended up with 24 Syns to spare and I know I don't lose if I don't have most if not all of them! Maybe I'll have to make a synful pudding today:rotfl:. Cant remember the last time I was in this position, if I ever have!

What an envious position to be in!:j Enjoy your syns however you decide to use them. Hope you get some good news at the hospital.:)

Where did you go on holiday?
Must admit we've had good/bad food on AI holidays but normally there's lots of fresh fruit and salads to fall back on.

    Morning all.

Yes, that's unusual to have no fruit available. We have our sunshine holidays in Turkey and when I was getting to target I could easily adapt breakfast to make it SW friendly. I took my own crispbreads (those Danish hard rolls were a HEB back then) to keep me off the bread and had masses of the lovely tomatoes and feta type cheese as a HEA as I like black Turkish tea. Then I had boiled eggs.

That being said, unless you're just starting out with SW you aren't going to gain all you've lost on holiday. I admire people who stay 100% on plan while they're away but it's not for me. :o
    Still on track.

Brilliant! And well done for not sampling the pizza. :T

    Parsnips are just free. :(

Yesterday didn't work out as planned. By the time we'd had birthday cake with DGD, it was too late for me to cook dinner before I went out. I left DH to sort himself out with a frozen ready meal and just snacked on some ham and beetroot myself when I got home. So today we're having yesterday's dinner including my own HM frozen oven chips as I'd already prepped them yesterday so I put them in the freezer. I've experimented with this in the past (just a few chips) so hope it works OK.

    Today's EE plan:
B: NAS grapefruit (F), HEB porage with HEA milk, half banana and skinny syrup (F)
L: JP (F) with cottage cheese (P), spring onion and beetroot (S)
D: baked haddock (P) with SW chips (F) tomatoes, mushrooms, cauli steak (S)
    Syns: None

Here’s the thing when you are sitting down to your evening meal, or lunch how do you decide portion size? I think my problem is I am (now) eating the right things but I am overeating them!

Also if i had watermelon and a banana for brekkie id be starving come lunchtime?

I agree that a substantial breakfast sets me up for the day but others have to force themselves to have any. It's whatever works for you.

Personally I don't think portion size is what mattters (I'm sure bubbs will tell you she has huge portions:D). What mattters is that you get the food optimising right by having at least a third of Speed. One suggestion is to fill your plate with the protein and Speed first so there's not much room for the free/carbs. Personally I aim for a third to a half across the day as I rarely have Speed at breakfast time.

What mattters is are you losing? If not, there could be many other reasons before looking at portions. :)

It's really important not to be hungry. That's often why people give up on diets and why SW isn't a diet but a change to healthy eating.

Change of plan for lunch as we were later back from the hospital than anticipated even though the dr was only running 15 minutes late! I was in there for about 30 minutes instead of the booked 15 minutes as she was explaining what would happen and showing me the problem on the scan I had a few weeks ago.

Good and bad news - good news I am now on the waiting list for the operation' bad news it could be up to 12 weeks for the operation date, which would run into my holiday. I'm going to contact my insurance company to let them know I'm on a waiting list as when I took out the insurance I'd only just got a diagnosis, just in case the op date comes for when I'm supposed to be on holiday! Really hoping it happens sooner than that though as I'd rather it was out of the way before my holiday. I really don't want to have to cancel another holiday.

Should have said lunch was a tuna salad instead of the the 2 pea soup which we'll now have tomorrow as I'll have more time to cook it. Only takes about 15 - 20 minutes in the pressure cooker including bringing it to pressure and releasing pressure.

Klew like you I'd be hungry if I only had some fruit for breakfast. You've probably noticed from the menu plans I usually have some form of Protein for breakfast but not today I just had porridge & fruit.

As regards portion sizes try sticking to recommended amount of carbs, eg rice, pasta etc as per packet and then add an equivalent amount of protein and as much Speed veg as you can get on your plate and you shouldn't be far off! Personally I don't eat as much of the rice, pasta as the packet says but I still cook 2 recommended portions and DH has what I don't!

Also.remember you should only eat until you are satisfied not until you feel fit to burst!

    Afternoon all :D
Yes Klew i have massive portions but don't eat hardly any carbs, no pasta, rice, or portions of potatoes with my meals, if i have chips i have 6/8.
I usually have berries and greek yog and 3 boiled eggs for breakfast as take it with me.
Denise, hope you get your op date soon and don't have to cancel your holiday but they told me within 12 weeks for my last op and it was about 15

Bubbs that doesn't fill me with much hope! Was hoping I'd get it before my holiday. Having said that the Dr was surprised I'd already been waiting 12 weeks!

Seeing the Endrochronologist tomorrow and hopefully he'll be able to push the ENT to push things through quicker!

  • We went to Skiathos 'Curl girl' the breakfast was included in the hotel, we did buy fresh fruit from the super market but the cost was much higher than here. While we stayed near our hotel there wasn't much choice even my DH struggled and he eats anything! Once we visited Skiathos town the choice was higher and I found tuna salad on the menu which I loved, it was still covered in oil though.
Hope everything works out for you Joedenise and you get to have your operation before your holiday if that is what you would like.
Maman and Joedenise it is fab that you keep talking about optimising and speed, it's like having my own virtual consultants :)
    So today:
Breakfast: Tangerine and a banana because I felt like comfort food, I wanted toast but had a banana instead of an apple. I did then have a cookie at 11am with coffee and 1 sugar.
Dinner: Soup with carrots, sweet potatoes, potatoes, broccolli, mushrooms and onions and a wholmeal roll (HEB) with 27g lighter cheese (HEA) and beetroot.
Tea: rocket, cucumber, chicken, tomatoes, beetroot and a bake potato but did have salad cream as I don't much like the lighter than light mayo, salad cream has such a kick it's a treat for me.
So syns are salad cream 4 syns but didn't have a full tbsp, sugar 1 syn, small chocolate chip cookie (not sure maybe 5 syns)?? and a chocolate oatie from Aldi this evening, I don't know how many syns they are I did look but only found ordinary oaties at 3.5 syns. Maybe 5 syns?? that would be 15 in all. I need them today!!!

Good luck with that Bubbs. Can't you ring on the day to get an earlier appointment? That's quite a way off.

Have just added up my Syns for the week and have finished the week on 99 syns! Just hope it's another STS or maybe even a small loss.
