Minimum bedroom size - social housing

You can't be the only people living in that house type so why don't you have a word with them, see if they have the same problem and ask how they overcome it or go with them to the HA together. Otherwise you'll only be seen as having an ulterior reason for complaining0

It is a conversion and they are all completely different.
In my one they simply partitioned a small part of hallway off with a cardboard like "wall" and decided to call it a bedroom0 -
I never realised I was a criminal until I found out about minimum room sizes. Bedroom 4 in my house is 1.92m x 2.2m. It was middle sons bedroom for a good few years and he even had his girlfriend stay over! We had furniture built in to fit. When he moved out of the room his little brother was delighted to have his own room. No more sharing with little sister.
Rooms are not airtight even with the door and window shut.
I assume HA tenancies are long term and secure so it is worth getting the room how you want it with fitted furniture and sorting the window so it can be open slightly. I would also guess that the rent is less than private rent so even if you call it one bed it is still a good price.0 -
It's overcrowding that may be criminal, not having small rooms.0

That weird for a HA....all the ones we deal with have never done conversions but would rather demolish & rebuild (in fact that's what we're involved with atm)0 -

If a room is classed as a bedroom when it should not due to its size - yes, I will challenge that. It is nothing to do with overcrowding or wanting a bigger place. I am talking about size/layout of ONE room and the legalities of the "2 bedroom" clasification of the flat. That is all.

If your challenge is successful and it becomes a one-bed then where is the current occupant of that room intending to sleep? Or is this a cake-and-eat-it scenario?1 -
Not downgraded. I want one bed yo be called one bed on the paperwork.
Why is it so difficult to understand for some?
If a private landlord was renting this out as a bedroom everyone would be outraged.
And because it is social housing this should be allowed?
It is NOT a 2 bedroom flat so it should not be called/charged for as a 2 bedroom flat.
THIS is the issue - there is nothing else to it
Measurements, total space in the room does NOT qualify it as a bedroom. Simples0 -

People would simply not rent it if they can afford somewhere else, you on the otherhand are limited by what the HA can give.
If your not happy you can always go to private renting

There you go so you want a cheaper rent that's why.
