The whole leave campaign was motivated by envy and hate.

You must hold a very narrow vision of the world.

Just un-blinkered, you should try it. You wouldn't be so closed minded

Now I see things for how they are, rather than how I think they are or how I want them to be then it's made a huge difference.

I think the word is woke. Although reality it's just a form of delusion.

I'm far from woke but I'm trying, that is all we can do. But you can only do that if you are unblinkered about yourself as well.

As I've pointed out previously, in my younger days I was a conservative voting Thatcherite. It's a journey

Convincing other people that their blinkered view is based on prejudice is kinda hard, I'm clearly still working on that.

From arch-Thatcherite to momentum stooge. That’s a hell of a transformation.

An almost unbelievable one in fact.

After five (awful) pages of this "discussion" the thing that stands out most prominently is that Tory voters apart to really just be... horrible.

Bitter, angry, suspicious of everyone. Socialists are all subhuman thieves. The poor are parasites. Their greatest anger is held for those who used to be Tories and moved on. Maybe because they can't really deal with the fact that others used to be like them and found a way out.

    Sad.

Right, because it's not true. I don't really identify with momentum & I'm certainly not their stooge. I'm sure they don't care at all about you. But I still regard Margaret Thatcher as the best prime minister we have had in my life time, I just don't agree with all she did.

It certainly is a personality type that guides your political beliefs. I'm now mostly liberal, but like some left and right wing ideas & don't limit myself to what I'm spoon fed.

It's interesting watching all the farage spoon fed arguments that are so easily debunked, that are still being thrown around. People want to believe them, it's the why they want to believe them & seeing If I can get them to figure it out that is so worthwhile.

It's a foible of the left that they believe they hold all the moral high ground. I can accept there are good people with good intensions on both sides and understand the balance between capitalism the need to have a social safety net.

I don't have the moral high ground, I just see things for what they are. Once you do that then you can't support the current government. Anyone cheering them on now is based on hate and jealousy.

I'm not on the left either.

If you could point out a single good intention for brexit then you'll have done something that three years worth of leavers has failed to do. I'm not saying that people who want to leave the EU never have any good intentions or are bad people in every part of their life. I'm only talking about brexit, you might have lots of foreign friends. But that doesn't prevent you from having prejudice against foreigners. People can hold multiple conflicting views, so a racist can be friends with someone of the race they hate & only hold the negative views against the people of that race that they don't know.

You appear to be aiming to show you have the moral high ground after saying that was a bad thing, which is kinda funny.

well I voted remain but the moral high ground for Brexit is quite clear, its what the people voted for. There are others like greater local accountability and divergence of what Euro nations need for financial stability but the vote was enough for me.
