A beautiful day here too, really warm which surprised me. Took the dogs out on a new to us route. Hadn't remembered their water, got lost, finally found our way back to the car after an hour. Found a bottle of water in the car and filled my glasses case so they could have a drink. Bad dog owner.

Since getting back I have cut back the hedge in the front garden as instructed to do so on gardeners world and made a half hearted but it will do attempt at weeding.

I'm having lunch now but will cut the grass back and front next.

Good on you for being a councillor, Jazee. I don't think any of them get much thanks for trying to make life better for other people. Far too many of us just assume people do it for all the wrong reasons.

Good luck with clearing Round - you'd be very unlucky not to get a place on a course, but it might not be your first choice. There are a lot of student places and applications are slowing down. I heartily recommend being a mature student; I absolutely loved it, and if it doesn't challenge you intellectually there's not really a lot of point in doing it.

I can't understand how I need to do three WM loads today, given then I did three on Friday, but there you go, I do. I'm handwashing the gungy bits of Layla's snuffle mat where I dropped a packet of sauce on it. Yuk. Other than that I'm trying not to do too much around the house today; tomorrow's soon enough, although I have vacuummed up the brioche mix that Layla managed to hoick off the desk in my office, break open the pack and started eating it. Fortunately I heard suspicious noises and investigated before she got more than few licks.
    Better is good enough.

Grass cut and another short walk. Inspired by Kaz I also cleaned the upstairs skirting boards.

  • Bathroom done.

Investigated the crashing noises out the back and found Idiot Cat in a precarious position halfway up the fence.

Decided whilst I was out there to bring in some nicer plant pots and scrub them up. Went back out and Idiot Cat was nowhere to be seen, so thought I'd pop a couple of bits of crud into binbags (to sneak into the general waste bin).

Innocently minding my own business when a blasted woodmouse on a suicide mission ran across my foot with Idiot Cat in hot pursuit. I yelped, jumped out of the way, avoided the burner full of dried vegetation waiting for a safe time to burn it, got my hair caught in the Rambling Rose and the nearest eight legged tenant fell out onto my bare arm and started scrambling up my hair. I might have shrieked at that point, as Idiot Cat apparently ran head first into the shed, going by the thud.

I stagger upstairs in need of partial resuscitation and Himself takes his headphones off and tells me he wondered what the noise was outside the window, but assumed it was the flock of parakeets currently searching for fruit in the street, as it was so high pitched and squawky.

He has now made me a cuppa and shut the back door, as Idiot Cat took my threats of leaving his P45 by the crunchies bowl seriously and is currently murdering a rodent by the shed.

I only said to Himself 45 minutes ago that Autumn is my favourite time of year.

I'm never going out there again without steel toecap boots, gloves, a hat and a Hazmat suit.
I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.
