  • Today I threw in: mince, mushrooms, peppers, garlic, onion and a carton of tomatoes with basil. Left to cook all day on medium, cooled and portioned up for the freezer. Some will be served with mash and greens, some as spag bol and some as a base for cottage pie. That's a few meals I can squeeze out of (mainly) bottom of the fridge stuff.
    Normal people worry me.

I've bought some beef skirting, can anyone give me some ideas on how long to cook it / what to make with it?
It is literally years since I've cooked this so suggestions welcome.

I make a 'lift' out of tinfoil strips so I can lift it out as it always falls apart! I put the bones back in and make stock afterwards ;)
This is genius!!! I'm going to make a lift for my chicken from now on! I usually attempt to get it out with 2 spatulas and it never ends well. lol:rotfl:

If you like a bit of spice I usually rub mustard (whole grain) into mine, a drizzle of balsamic vinegar and some water with a stock cube- cooks beautifully on low for 6-8 hours and leaves a lovely stock.

has any one cooked beef olives in the slow cooker? I am tempted to give it a shot but don't want to mess it up.

I've never thought of cooking chicken like that, sounds lovely! Could you tell me how much liquid you would put in and how long you would cook them for? Oh! and do you precook anything or just put it in raw? Thank you :)
Edit: I've just read the recipe thread and it looks like I should brown the chicken but wondering if you add the mushrooms nearer the serving time?
