Well where to begin! Just seems like everything is spiralling out of control.
So main updates are:
* Camping had to be cancelled as both dh and dd got Covid a few days before we were going, we got a refund minus a small admin fee which is fair enough.
* Got another quote for plastering - a more reasonable £380 and I have that set aside, he's coming next week.
* Still waiting for expenses to be paid, sometimes it's before usual pay day and sometimes in with pay so at the latest will be Monday.
Dentist - oh my goodness it's going to cost a bomb and I don't know how I'm going to afford it. Due to go for next appointment on Monday but can't remember how much the next session will be. Haven't told dh as he will just go mad, not because I need the work done but it's just so expensive.
Feeling like many others that the cost of living is getting ridiculous, and feeling overwhelmed with mood going up and down. Feeling in a constructive mood today which I'll share in a minute.
Current debts:
Ok so here are the debts, some new due to kids needing computers which I know is a luxury.
Loan - current balance £2165.96 (can't make additional payments, would have to pay off in full)
DH computer - current balance £2645.17 (I've been making overpayments which then reduces the interest/capital so worth continuing to do
Mum - current balance £200 (only 2 more payments to go)
Mattress - current balance £243 (on interest free, final payment December)
Kids computers - can't remember cost but payment currently deferred for 12 months (they needed upgrades and dh got them built so that components can be updated therefore will last years).
DD school - I have 3 more payments of £2800, the next one is due in August and I currently have £2085. I have a schedule to save for these with extra coming when I finish paying Mum.
Plans:
* Finish paying Mum
* Mattress - should really leave as on 0% but would be nice to pay off a debt, maybe look at it after I've saved the rest of the nest school payment.
* School - pay and expenses on Monday should bring me up to balance.
* Dentist - Don't know!
I have been in contact today via my friend about picking up some more car shifts with my second job, just waiting to sort out some shadowing shifts.
I've looked through budget and no wiggle room apart from groceries, we're going to go back to having a set cash budget, meal planning and looking at cheaper meals.
Right best get on, H x1 -
Hope you manage to up your income and control your budget. Sounds like a fair few challenge with that little list. Keep going. You'll make it.

Morning folks, so as always busy but all good at the moment. Starting to see a few things start to happen.
Plasterer is already here working away which is brilliant, before he leaves I'll ask him to give us a rough quote for the bedroom and then we can save towards it and then get him back for a more detailed quote at that point.
Work wise I have done one shadowing shift at new care setting, it's just like a project I used to manage so loved it. I have another small shadowing shift next week to see their morning routine and then have picked up a shift on my own the week after. It's a higher grade so extra per hour which is lovely but as I pay BR on this job I bet most of it will be taken back. Do you think we'd ever get a tax rebate on second jobs!!!
So on to debts:
Loan - current balance £2043.96
DH computer - current balance £2645.17 - need to see if I can make an extra payment this month
Mum - current balance £200
Mattress - current balance £243
Total balance: £5132.13
Kids computers - we'll come back to later!
Dentist - cost for tooth extraction on Monday was £52 so a lot less than I thought but next Monday I have 2 fillings so will be a couple of hundred. In September I will then have appointments for root canal work and see whether it's possible to have tooth implants as I now have 3 missing teeth (luckily at the back so you can't see them).
School - now have £2330/£2800 so getting there with this. Dd has done a rough list of Uni's/apprenticeships but I have warned her that she needs to narrow it down so we can do visits, especially as I might need to book time off.
So busy weekend ahead, I'm working tonight, then BBQ at my parents as my brother is visiting, kids run on Sunday morning followed by a walk with my group, then night shift Sunday night!
See you on the other side, H x1 -

Well the weekend passed in a blur, my second night shift of the weekend was horrendous and I've had to speak to senior management, but it does mean that the person involved is now getting some urgent treatment and review. Shame it's taken so long - sigh!
Other job is fine, a lot of people away at Commonwealth Games - strange to see colleagues on the tv! Looking forward to heading down there on Friday.
Finances wise not a lot of movement, currently watching the pennies so we can have a treat whilst we're away. I need to fill the car with fuel tomorrow. Had to rearrange dentist on Monday as I was exhausted after the night.
Loan - current balance £2043.96 - next payment on 25th
DH computer - current balance £2645.17 - will make an extra payment when I get my expenses.
Mum - current balance £200 - next payment on Tuesday.
Mattress - current balance £243 - next payment on 16th.
Total balance: £5132.13 - no change until next week.
School fees - Now up to £2360, will add more on Tuesday.
I'm working a few hours tomorrow morning at the new care setting, then looking forward to getting away.

When do you actually go away? Sounds like you need the break.
Sounds like you are feeling the financial pressure too. I hope you get some good news soon.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Well the weekend away was amazing! We went to the morning and afternoon sessions of the sport I'm in and watched my friend and a local girl to me competing. They both did well. We spent a bit on food but not as much as I thought we would and the car did us well and only used half a tank of fuel for the whole weekend including getting there and back.
We were shattered by Sunday afternoon when we got back so just chilled for the rest of the day.
So back to the grind stone for a few weeks before we have another long weekend before the kids go back to school.
Need to update spending app and remember we have a few things to pay for, one which I realise needs sorting today (niece's birthday) so must be careful.
Upcoming expenses:
Cat to vet today - has started getting a bald patch on her back. I have a little bit in savings pot but depends what it is as to treatment.
Niece birthday.
DS birthday next week - he's had his computer but will get a little couple of things to open on the day.
Dentist next week - rearranged appointment
Also to check is home insurance - I've done comparisons but nothing better than my renewal quote. I need to transfer the money from my savings pot.
Business insurance also due so need to check that I move that money too.
Phew forgot how expensive August is, and that's not even taking into account price increases and the doom and gloom of energy costs!
Anyway latest updates with debt:
Loan - current balance £2043.96 - next payment on 25th
DH computer - current balance £2645.17 - will make an extra payment when I get my expenses.
Mum - current balance £100 - last payment on 6th September
Mattress - current balance £243 - next payment on 16th.
Total balance: £5032.13
School fees - Now up to £2440, a little top up on Tuesday and then next Thursday will get to £2800 plus will start the next payment savings due in December.
Hope everyone is enjoying the weather, H x1 -
Morning huggle, glad your weekend went well. August is expensive money seems to be flowing out of my account at the minute.
Enjoy the sunshine xx2 -
Glad your time away went well.
Well done on the debt clearance. I must admit I'm always particularly glad to see the back of family loans.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030
