    Sounds like bargains on haircut and tops for £38.

    Have fun.

    Good morning, having a fairly easy day although have a meeting tonight which isn't stressful and online. Have had a busy week with extra night shifts, clubs and teaching yesterday so have been a bit shattered. Thinking of the pennies though and looking forward to a few days off later this week.

    We had a bbq on Saturday and invited my parents, still lots of food left but whereas we usually are too tired or merry to think about putting away food, this time I have frozen meat and rolls not used.

    Current financial update:
    * Extra payment made to computer, amazing how much interest it's knocked off so need to continue with this.
    * Cancelled breakdown cover, will be with new insurance policy to be paid by 14th June.
    * Refund from service plan was a healthy £150, I've transferred this to the car repairs pot ready to pay for the repairs and MOT which is booked in for 6th June.
    * £100 moved to emergency fund - £100/£1000
    * Expenses submitted for May to be paid next month, just need to submit teaching hours

    I hoping to convince dh to do some painting in the attic over the weekend, might just start it myself and see if he joins in. Needs a good tidy and clean up there.

    Jobs for today:
    * Plan dinner from leftovers
    * Pop to HB for a few bits
    * 1 load of washing, it's raining today so will need to be put on the airer
    * Do a bit of work!
    * A few surveys

    See you later, H x

    Woohoo dh pay day, although I actually haven't spent much just yet. Nice to see dh new take home pay clearly but frustrating that so much was taken off last month with his bonus.

    I've updated the budget so I know I much I have left for food, fuel etc. and have a list of everything that needs accounting for the month ahead.

    Booked to have a smart meter this morning but had in the back of my mind then there was going to be a problem with an old box, technician confirmed it but he straight away got on to SP and they came with half an hour. It's safe but needs replacing before smart meter can be done. They'll book us in for the work and then go from there. Never had workmen turn up so promptly!

    Finances:
    * Budget up to date
    * Need to do menu and food shop
    * Friend said she puts away petrol money during school hols to save for treats so have moved £40 to savings pot

    Just need to keep an eye on spending, don't go mad!

    Have a meeting at 1.30pm then I'm signing off work until Monday.

    H x

    Afternoon all, we've had a lovely few days off. Been busy but with family things not work. We went to the cinema on Thursday to watch Mr Cruise, didn't spend a penny as used a gift card from Xmas which covered the tickets and snacks.

    Quite a few spendy things coming up starting with MOT and repairs tomorrow, but as previously mentioned I have the majority of this put aside. Then will pay for annual car insurance.

    We've been batch cooking again so the freezer is full, although I accidently dropped the drawer and it's cracked a bit. Now being held together with tape and goodwill! I also noticed that a whole bag of carrots were beginning to go off already, so I've blanched them and put into bags in the freezer to go into a meal at a later date.

    I was feeling a bit overwhelmed with the state of the house the other day and kept thinking s*d it let's get a huge loan, get all the work done and we can sit penniless but with a nice house  :D but I soon came to my senses!

    Everything is going down nicely, just need to be patient.

    Rubbish weather today but it held off for volunteering earlier, back on nights tonight. After the next school fees payment in August, I will have 2 more payments to save for and then school is done. Hopefully we can start to pay that off the mortgage then. Something to look forward to.

    Enjoy the rest of the weekend, H x

    Glad the school fee pressure isn't due to be prolonged. Does that mean that uni is next though?

    Well done for not going gung ho on house related debt. If your finances are already under pressure and it's not essential repairs it seems sensible to wait and save up.

    Good morning everyone, long time no speak!

    So what's been happening over the last few weeks, well the car passed it's MOT after a repair so that was good. Been busy with work and got home last night after a trip to the Welsh capital, mostly positive and have had some conversations with board members about support/investment into some areas of the organisation and not others. Not sure what will come of it but at least we can raise the profile of our work.

    I'm back down that way next week as DH aunt died so we're going down for her funeral, it will be a flying visit though and staying with family.

    Otherwise just really busy with all the clubs, work etc. that we do, in 2 weeks time I can take a breather!

    On to finances and plans, we had a quote for the plastering - £1200 - um no thank you, it's literally the smallest area in the house. Trying to get some more quotes but struggling to get responses.

    Everything else ticking on, owed £400 from work expenses so will split that between a few things when it comes in. Pay day today and need to update budget and move money to pots.

    I have a few things to pay for dentist on Tuesday, little bit for our camping trip, pay some more off dh computer, more towards dd school fees. Yes need to look at Uni costs SH, but she will need to get a job too!

    Right need to go out for a bit, back soon. H x
