Hi folks, back after our lovely visit to Oxford. Spent a small fortune on food, fuel and parking but dd enjoyed the course and ds and I had a nice time at the museums and shops. Took an age to get home yesterday due to the Easter traffic but it was to be expected.

So finances looking dire but have also paid another £100 to parents (now owe £500), paid dd exam fees and had a bit of money in from surveys so that will go to next school fees pot. I have used all the pay from my second job so will definitely have to put the whole bonus into the school pot!

I've picked up an extra night next week but have an annual leave day at the weekend as it's my birthday. My friend is going to sort out putting me on the bank for some other homes rather than expand my business on that side. Makes it better for me to pick up or refuse shifts rather than having to be restricted to certain days/times.

Right need, to do the dishes, try and look for some cheap meals and update the finances. Working tonight so will need to get some sleep soon.

    Have a lovely bank holiday, H x

  • Glad your trip to Oxford was a success and you all had a great time. Going on the bank sounds like a good plan it will give you the freedom to pick and choose which shifts you want and you won't be tied to specific shifts.

    Have a good weekend xx

Well that was the week from hell, tested positive for Covid on Monday and can honestly say I've not felt so ill for such a long time! Finally had a negative result yesterday on my birthday but ds has got it although seems to be a mild cold. We're going to go out for dinner on Friday to make up for a rubbish week.

So finances are all over the place, I haven't got a clue where we are up to except I have ordered a new mattress which is arriving tomorrow and hopefully dh can move back to the bedroom and get a good night's sleep.

Dh payday on Friday will include his bonus so it will be nice to sort a few things out.

Need to sort out ds passport this week for his school trip, plus our accommodation for August.

Right back later when I'm up to date.

Well hello strangers, not getting much time to post at the minute and to be honest not a lot has been happening.

But a few things to update on:

    * DH got paid his bonus but he needs to check his payslip when he goes back to work next week as didn't seem to be the right figure with his increased pay and the bonus unless he's just been heavily taxed. DH hasn't taken anything from the bonus but we still gave the kids £100 each and I've paid for our accommodation for the trip.

    * I've saved £900 for the guttering so I've got the first person booked in for a quote on Monday evening, sounds really nice on the phone.

    * All debt payments are still going out ok, I was going to pay off the oven but I need to focus on paying off the balance of ds school trip as that is due by July.

I have picked up some extra nights for work and also have some teaching hours booked in, I haven't had time to look at expanding my coaching as yet.

Everyone ok at home, need to plan some trips out as a family as we're a bit stale at the moment. We should be able to do something on Sunday.

Current plans and things due out:

    * Next payment to parents on 17th May
    * Next payment for oven on 7th May
    * Send bits and pieces over to ds trip fund
    * Next pay from 2nd job on 18th May, hopefully with the bonus

Right off to vote and pop to the shops, H x

Morning folks! So an uneventful weekend really, we didn't go out but did potter around at home including doing some cooking that has lasted a few days.

I've done well with food for a few days using up things we already have and spent a whole 22p yesterday after vouchers were used at Lidl (only got 4 things - stuck to my list!). I do need to plan something for tomorrow though.

Dd and I will be staying at my parents house for a few days to look after their puppy, they're off on a short trip. Mum said we can eat what we like, will be fun having pooch around whilst I work!

We had a chap come round to look at the guttering last night, we'll need some scaffolding put up so will increase the cost and he'll let us know in the next few days. Sounds like I'll need to add a lot more to the fund.

Miracles of miracles, s-in-l and niece are coming to visit in July so we're going camping for a weekend. It's a very rare occurrence for her to come up here so will be nice that we can have a break nearby for a change.

Oven payment has gone out, that is now a few pounds over £200 left to go. Need to look at when I can pay some money for ds trip.

Dh had a look at his pay slip, it was right - nearly £1k in tax and national insurance, what a croc of ....! Hope it works out better for future months without the bonus in the next month's pay.
