Evening! Weather is getting warmer which bodes well for the BBQ at the weekend :)

Took the kids out to fabric shop and DIY store for dd, the first time they've left our town since March, shops were ok but it's more me not liking being there and one shop assistant being a bit funny if you were in the wrong place!

Went for a walk with dh down the beach and as we were chatting he said that one of his colleagues' wife is a Covid testing nurse, she was working at the factory that has had an outbreak and couldn't believe that within hours of positive testing she saw a couple of workers in a large supermarket when they had been told to self-isolate for 14 days. They weren't even attempting basic precautions and when challenged they were not at all fussed and shrugged. It absolutely beggars belief. :#

I've got my ds trained r.e. food, he wanted pizza from a takeaway so I suggested getting one from L*dl and he said 'but I want sweetcorn and olives on it' so I said we had those items and he could stick them on the Margerita instead. I said that way I have enough money to also but some apple juice and milk and bread before payday. He was happy with that - good lad!

    2 days until payday, exciting :) H x

Good morning, it's pay day, hip hip hip hooray!

Usually payday has meant oh great we're out of the overdraft for a few days but today it meant great I can move some money into all the lovely pots and savings. What a difference it feels and we've never had savings before so this is amazing.

    This morning I have:
    * Moved money into the M*nz* account to put into the pots.
    * Transferred £50 each into the emergency fund, general savings and washing machine pots.
    * Transferred the annual bills amount minus the garden waste subscription which I have paid online.
    * Paid the £11.50 balance on the catalouge account so this will be clear as soon as the statement is produced and I will close.
    * Updated YNAB

    Still to do:
    * I'm going back to cash for the weekly shop to keep us in check, will withdraw this, I need to do a menu and go shopping too.
    * Get Dad a small birthday present, the weather is not looking great after all for the weekend so we are doing afternoon tea on Monday and will make the food ourselves.
    * DS wants a bank account so need to look at this today.
    * Need to contact water company as we need to change our stopcock and it means turning off the water in the street but we need to check how many houses would be affected.
    * Write out my budget nicely as at the minute it's a bit scrappy.

Right need to get the kids up, although dd was up until midnight doing school work so I'll let her off.

Good morning, woken up by our vibrating pipes which I've finally managed to silence for a while - we have a plumber going to come out when he's back doing house visits next week.

2 big payments out today, car loan is nearly into the £1ks and loan 2 is creeping down nicely. I've got a small survey payment to send over to the credit card, amazing how the little payments soon add up.

Letter from school yesterday said that all children will receive a free meal whilst they are there so that's kind of them and helps out for a meal each.

Most of the jobs from yesterday done but might have spent some time chilled out in the garden instead of doing them! Glad of the rain today and meeting a friend for a run later this evening, keeping apart of course, it will be so nice to catch up.

    Have a lovely day, H x

More excellent payments on that pesky debt. Hope you enjoyed the run. I do miss it, hoping I might be able to go out and jeff a run today. I’ll see how warm it gets later.

Thanks lucielle and PF for your support, run was lovely so nice to talk to a friend!

Well things are a little strained again as yesterday at 1630 I received an email from HR with another furlough letter only this time there was mention of possible changes, either I could be asked to work part time and the other half still furlough, or furlough would continue until end of October, I could be asked to go back to work but with changes and then came the bit about possible redundancies. Really, really annoyed that this was sent late on a Friday afternoon so no chance to talk to my manager until Monday and with a brief note saying there will be changes from Wednesday! To be fair I'm not sure if my manager knows that this was sent as he didn't know about the last one, but after messaging my colleagues they're all worried and also not happy about the way it has been sent.

So another period of waiting and hoping, but trying to keep positive and after chatting with my friend during the run she said there is a job waiting in my old profession should I need it even if it's temporary and I will never not be able to pay the bills. Also dh friend said he will give me a job which would mean being away from home during the week but it's very good money.

The plan now is to carry on as before but also we have applied for a mortgage holiday at this time which if we get the full amount would completely pay off 1 loan and a huge step towards paying off the other. I know it's not ideal but the less we have hanging around the better.

Right moving on, today I've made another small payment on the credit card after survey payout and also rounded down the loan balance as that figure has updated since yesterday - a whole 99p less :)  I'm off to go and dig over the garden to get it ready to plant my veg, and then I need to plan the cakes etc that I want to make for Dad's afternoon tea.

Ooh and I have a plan for Xmas presents this year after not being able to get much last year, I like to make things or do unusual gifts and this year I planning to do presents based around classic or amazing books that relate to the individuals that they may have never read before and also if there is a film then that goes in too. For my brother and his wife who like to travel I'm doing 80 Days Around the World, I'm going to make a hot air balloon with a map as the balloon and highlight the places they stopped in the film, try and find a gift from that country and also put in the basket the book and also the original film (the remake with Steve Coogan is not as good) although I used to love the kids cartoon version too!

I have to be careful about the book choice, I mean Dracula might not go down too well!!!

Ok best crack on, H x

If you can get the loan home by taking a payment holiday I think it’s worthwhile. It may just be the way the letter is worded from work  (badly it sounds) but from the 1st July employees can be out on flexible furlough which means you can work part time and be furloughed the rest of the time. But employers have to flag you as this and tell HMRC so they may just be notifying you if that bit. Some people may stay flexibly furloughed until Oct too if work isn’t there.

Obviously the redundancy but it outside of that but home the furlough bit helps.

Hope the furlough side of things works out more positively than it sounds. Good to know you have other options if the worst happens. It sounds like you are managing your money well during this period too

Good morning, we had a lovely afternoon with my parents and made some cakes and rolls/wraps for lunch which went down well despite the oven being all over the place and the cakes weren't up to my usual standard. DD has gone off to school, she was a little apprehensive but more about not knowing what to do but I bet she'll be fine when she sees her friends.

We have had the mortgage holiday approved but will be from August as the next payment is due out on Thursday so too soon to stop it, I spent last night doing some number crunching but according to how things stand now and not if there's any change with my job.  If all ok then this is what will be paid off:
    * Loan 2 current balance is £1179.44 - I need to save Aug/Sept mortgage payments to pay in full and by that time there will be at least 2 more usual payments made so balance will have reduced.
    * I will have paid off washing machine as planned.
    * The monthly sum saved from above could be used for an extra payment on the car which with interest saved too could mean this is paid off by early 2021 instead of May 2021.
    * I will still make extra payments to the credit card and also then save to pay off loan 1 in full.

This would be a great position to be in when the New Year arrives, obviously dependant on many things but at least there is a glimmer of hope.

I need to catch upon some surveys today, make a pie from the left over beef and await the return of dd at lunch time.
