How's everyone, we're having a mixture of busy and relaxed days as suits finding that we fill the gaps between meal times!

I've just had a call from the CEO, we are going on furlough from Friday initially for a month but it will be reviewed so could be longer or shorter depending on what's going on in the world. They are topping up the 80% so I will still get my full pay, glad in a way because I'm only doing bits and pieces now so might as well just be off and pick up again when the sport gets going again.

I haven't done much really today apart from clean the bathroom and make a few calls for work, I haven't ordered the veg box (edit - now ordered), nor have I paid anything to the credit card - but I have been looking after my seedlings, playing quizzes that the kids have invented on Kahoot which have been a laugh, and tried to do some exercise but my shoulder is painful.

Ho hum, I also need to keep some money aside as nightmare car is making an odd noise when I get up to 30mph, I'm only using it at the moment to drop off my parents shopping which isn't far but it will definitely need to go to the garage again when we're allowed.

Ooh I found some yeast at the little shop near to my parents the other day, might try and convince my dh to make pizza dough as I can't as I stupidly cut my finger whilst washing up yesterday it's really painful, had to put on two plasters to stop the blood!

I promise I'm not falling apart, hope everyone has a good day. H x

Hope your finger heals quickly. Good that your company is topping up the furlough pay.

Afternoon all, we've been busy doing bits around the house, cooking, and keeping active. We have spent some time clearing and tidying the shed but I really want a shed to store the bikes and my sports equipment so it's easier to move around in there. The herbs and veg are doing well, I was really pleased to be able to use my own compost to re-pot some of the seeds although I seem to struggle to access what's at the back of the composter and can't turn it around. The potatoes are thriving this year despite having a rubbish crop last year.

I've also been cleaning and rearranging the kitchen cupboards and dh has done the attic where he keeps his kit.

I've just paid some money on the credit card so I'm now in the 8k's yay, I've also got £75 in vouchers towards Xmas so far. It's my pay day on Friday and also my birthday so we're having steak for tea and I've ordered a second hand jacket as my gift from the family. It's frustrating not being able to chip away at the debt more but hopefully a few more weeks and then we'll get a clearer picture about dh job and I can get the car into the garage.

Ooh I nearly forgot, we have gone a bit mad and ordered a wholesale delivery of flour it should keep us in bread and cakes for a while!

Happy Birthday for Friday. Great news on the flour for cake and bread. On the money side of things - making sure you can cover your bills long term is the most important thing.

Good morning, awake since 0600 as dh was pottering around and woke me up - he didn't sleep well and has now gone back to have a nap!

We're still ticking along, I had a nice birthday but may have had a few too many bubbles! We had a small but perfectly formed BBQ yesterday and today will make some chicken kebabs for lunch. I'm also going to make some cheese straws for tea to go with cold meats, cheeses and salad.

Some updates with the finances, a bit of a mixed bag - dh had a call from his Manager their furlough to be extended until mid-May but will be at 80% pay, there was the choice of taking some annual leave but he wants to keep his days as he and friend are planning a trip to Scotland later in the year if possible. He has got a date of 18th May to go back to work so it will be 18 days at 80% which we should be able to manage if we're careful.

I had a letter from car finance company to confirm overpayments have been added to the account and a nice interest rebate of £73 so this has reduced the balance even more. The next instalment goes out tomorrow as does the loan payment so all good.

Veggies are coming on nicely, I have found that sieving compost is a great way to relax and love the end product I need to do a bit more today as the tomatoes need splitting and repotting.

I sent over a bit of money to savings, now at a whopping £100 but that's 10% of my initial target. DH gets paid on 1st May with his bonus so must move some of that out to protect it, he is using some to buy kit for his trip but also he has 2 items for sale on eb*y which are doing well and that will also go towards the cost.

Guess what - expenses still not paid this month despite being authorised ages ago and payday was on Friday!

Hope everyone is ok, H x

Belated Happy Birthday. Glad your veggies are doing well. My bean are germinating well and potatoes. The pepper seeds I planted have had no movement yet. The lettuce I planted a little later - no signs on them yet. I bought in some tomatoes, cauli, broccoli and peppers which are doing fine - still inside for fear of frost. I killed one cucumber plant I bought by putting it out too early. One tomato plant I put in a pot and it seems to have survived. No sign of my outdoor carrots or peas yet but it is early days.

Ouch to 80% and no expenses yet. Yay to bonus though. What trip is it he is putting money towards? Will he even be able to go?

They are planning to go to Scotland for a 5 day walking trip but obviously won't be until everyone is able to get out again so no timescale at present.

Just a quick update this morning, I need to pop out to post a birthday card and pick up a couple of things then get on with some more composting before the rain sets in.

Loan payment and car payment went out yesterday, everything is heading down nicely except the credit card which I need to pay a bit more on on Friday. I phoned the bank yesterday to reduce the overdraft yay!

Hope everyone has a good day, H x

Glad the finances are under control. A walking holiday in Scotland does sound fun - when lockdown ends.
