Has anyone been through the process for assessing for ADHD? My DS already has autism, dyspraxia and APD and was diagnosed 3 years ago.
They now think he has ADHD linked in with is autism. They have given me a Connors form to fill out after his 6th birthday in the summer and apparently will send ADHD nurses out to assess?0 -

way back when peoples attitudes towards my dd were like "that child needs discipline" and i would try to tell her off smack her - over time as i and she grew i realised that it was peer pressure making me flip when she misbehaved so now i rant at them - most of the population are so !!!!!! regarding disability awareness!
Brilliant tip - i'll remember that one!
And brilliant re peoples attitudes - I soooooo want to slap people sometimes!!:beer:0 -
hi i dont know about the war pensioners mobility allowance but if you get the high rate dla mobility then yes you can use it for a car, but you dont have to, its your choice. on some cars there is a deposit to pay, but you lease the car for 3 years, and i believe only have to pay for petrol, all insurance, tax, servicing and anything that may go wrong with the car is covered. they will take an amount of your weekly mobility payment depending on the car you choose.

think that is the right web site for all the information.
im waiting for dla to make there decision at the moment, the claim renewal is with the decision maker, the waiting is doing me in!! i want to keep ringing them to find out if the decision has been made and what it is.
right i have a big meeting with the professionals at lunch time, wish me luck!!0 -

Just wanted to comment that when we moved to this house 2 years ago, the old woman across the road was horrified that we had children and commented how surprised she was that we had moved there, and it wasn't really a suitable place for kids (strange - 3 bed house, primary school and playpark up the road- what she really meant was she didn't want to see or hear them). When my DS7 tantrums now, I admit I get a tiny stab of pleasure thinking of her tut tutting behind her curtains :rotfl:
Fortunately my immediate neighbour is completely different; she loves kids, understands DS's condition and lets him visit & "walk" her dog lol. Otherwise I don't think I could stand the constant disapproval from the rest of the residents! They deem him their worst enemy who tells them the truth. -- Plato0 -
sod em all lol - too many miserable gits in this world! lifes too short! make sure they have a few tantrums outside so that she can get the full glory of a paddy -people like that are always looking for things to moan about - keep her busy!0

My son's girlfriend has heard today that she has been awarded DLA!!:T:T
She does not know what rate yet, they rang her up because they could not read her writing for her Bank Account, and told her she will be getting some DLA and would have a letter in two weeks. She didn't think to ask them what rate.
But my son rang me and said even the lowest she can get, which I believe is £18.65 a week, will really help her.
Great News!(AKA HRH_MUngo)

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton0 -

She has heard today -she has been awarded Lower Rate Mobility and Lower Rate Care backdated to February 14th!:T
Apparently she will also get a disability premium on her Jobseekers' Allowance . I've googled it and it says £27.50 a week but that seems too good to be true.......have to wait and see.
She has also passed a Maths exam today. Good day for her!(AKA HRH_MUngo)

Kids are random, unpreditable, noisy - all things which I am affected by .... things/people which move randomly, the unpredictable and noise.
So that's a bit of a selfish attitude bearing in mind your ASD kids will grow up to be adults too with issues.0 -
Hi Guys,
Just wondering what help, if any, you get with children with ASD / aspergers after they have been formally diagnosed (apart from any financial i.e DLA etc).
We are just going through the diagnosis process ourselves.
Thanks in advanceEmbrace your inner Hillbilly
