Hi Shaz,
That is interesting, i assumed not because he slept. Hmmm, maybe I am wrong though, there are things like the obsessions and routines but maybe he has a touch of both.
And hey, we can reminise as much as we want guys, isn't that what having kids is all about.
14 months for speaking though, wow. I bet he has not stopped since, LOL!! So cute that your husband kept a diary though, I wish I had kept one now.0 -

He hasn't. He can talk the hind legs off a donkey (but then so can I!). It's the endless monologues that make me glaze over though....when he was little it was dinosaurs and transformers, now it's the finer points of Warhammer armies (yawn!), extreme sports, science fiction (and fact) and anything else that takes his fancy at the time(e.g. Jeremy Clarkson ). Like most Aspies he doesn't notice whether it's inappropriate or whether the listener is bored to tears. I just now say quietly to him 'Innappropriate!' if it is (this works usually, not always) and do my best to change the monologue's subject (but that very rarely works).(AKA HRH_MUngo)

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton0 -
My DS tried football (didn't get it) and St John Ambulance 9(too many rules) He now does cross country which he loves. The only rule is RUN!!!
I am PLEASED my lad will not be footy mad and demanding the new kit every season!!!:)
Also DS has discovered he can swim quite well in his school swimming lessons. I would advise just letting them try anything they fancy but not pushing them into anything really. DS has also tried canoeing and kayaking, and he likes climbing too - things which require you to be fearless and also you can stay 'in your own head' they are not team things.Member no.1 of the 'I'm not in a clique' group :rotfl:

Hello there, just been reading some of this and thought I'd say "Hello", my son is diagnosed with as and dyspraxia and then to complicate things even further has also got significant learning delay. He is ten, I had surgery when pregnant as a growth had formed and the specialists thought I had cancer - it wasn't fortunately. I had an ultra quick delivery - 30mins from waters breaking and literally as I arrived at the hospital he was coming! He wouldn't feed, didn't crawl and loads of other things that I now believe to be classic signs in an as child. My son is loving and kind- though like a rabbit caught in the headlamps a lot of the time - he just doesn't understand the world and its getting harder as he gets older - he now has lots of temper tantrums which I think are a lot today with him lacking understanding of events. I'll try and keep up with the thread, and post later - my husband is wanting the computer now!!!! We don't get any support, don't have family nearby and I hope this thread is a saviour.I'm not a failure if I don't make it, I'm a success because I :tried!0

The gym thing i would let ryan go if he enjoys thats the main thing DD2 goes 2hrs dancing once a week and gym once a week (gym is dance style) Like the teacher says she takes ages to pick things up and will never be the best but while she enjoys it let her come
With obbessions i tend to go along with the flow DD2 is obbessed with David Tennant and John Barrowman she now has signed pictures from both of them Davids took about 10 days to arrive and Johns over 6mths both are in frames on bedside cabinet and you dont dare move them
The highlight that she loves is the signed hamlet programme i got when i went to see it.I didnt even try to wait at the stage door i sent in post with sae and got it back within 4 days so he must have done it by return post She would dearly love to see it but its 3hrs 50min long and i dont want to pay horrendous price for a ticket to come out half way through
So her birthday as luck would have it the rsc were holding a open day with a talk given by D/T and Patrick Stewart and i was amazingly lucky i got tickets on friday night for it So all day we spent inside theater and listened to talks about lighting and stuff Then we had picnic in the car (flaming rain again) and went to the talk i was amazed at how good she was she was absolutley besotted by him never moved an inch And she is over the moon at her poster that we were lead to believe was design your own hamlet poster but it wasnt it was wear a replica coat exactly the same as D/Ts in the hamlet poster so she had her photo taken wearing the coat 2hrs later we had to pick it up and now she has it on bedroom door.I still cant over the fact that everything we did that day was free apart from D/t talk which cost £10 She had a fantastic time and i've never seen her so well behaved it was actually a pleasure to be out with her
Already have had to have a talk with school that has to be a record even by my standards they have already piled on the pressure of how good the sats results have got to be So on 2nd day she came out upset and when we got home she told me she got all worked up and couldnt even do 2x2 so i've now gone into the school and told them i no uncertain terms if they dont lay of the pressure i will keep her off the week the sats are i told them they want the results to be good then tough if they dont stop making her streesed she wont be doing them With a bit of luck they will do that if not they had better watch out it's there figures there worried about not how much pressure its putting on the kids
sorry for long post hope everyone is well0 -
Sats matter more to the schools in terms of how they ar eviewed by OFSTED/league tables.
told my DS's school's learnign Mentor that if they did SATS about Francis Bacon paintings or sushi he would get the highest grades ever!Member no.1 of the 'I'm not in a clique' group :rotfl:

On the subject of SATs do they actually know what stress they cause our special kids, mine came home with a letter yesterday after the saga of a 3c in science they have now discovered, and god knows how he only actually sat one of the papers, they have now had to average his mark over the year and so he has now benn given a 5, got 5 in maths and English to. His only concern was if these were good enough for a new football kit.
DD absolutely loves her new college away from DS, hope it lasts.
Senco phoned yesterday to say they had a memorial mass for DS friend that died during hols, DS had written a poem and read it out to whole church, apparently they were all in tears after, she wanted me to know how proud she was of him. It was really nice hearing something nice said for a change, pity about the circumstances though.
I just wish sometimes he could talk to people on a one to one basis , maybe this is asking to much but he has such confidence on a stage or in front of a crowd it is usually the other way about for people, when I ask he says he switches of and pretends no one is there and you cant do that with one person.proud mum of son with aspergers0 -
Just to put my bit in about quick deliveries.
Mine was anything but:rotfl:
Was induced on my due date as DS was large...got induced Tues tea time, again Weds am, again Weds night....he finally showed his face on Thurs afternoon but at 11 lbs it was a struggle for him to get out:eek:
I had to laugh at the person who had to endure a long winded monologue on Jeremy Clarkson:rotfl:
We get constant chats about the time, clocks and numbers....also how many songs are on CDs and which number is the last song.
His favourite conversation opener is " I`m going to talk about some numbers that I like":rolleyes:0
