Did you son eventually grow out of the loo problem?

coloured loo seats? to be honest we havent been in that situation much....we did encounter a lightwood seat recently and he started to flap a bit but managed to convince him it was nearly white;)

It doesnt help that nearly all public toilets seem to have black seats.

He will sometimes ask people (strangers)...."what colour is your toilet" :o

I have tried the paper covers but he says he can still see the black seat and it doesnt cover he lid. Wants me to wrap seat and lid in toilet paper and sellotape so" no black can get out"!!!

These papers ones look fairly substantial and are adhesive?

You could take a plain cotton washable bag to put over the lid behind him when he sits on it? Or for that matter a pillowcase?

I suspect that you may have to work on desensitising him about the black seats though...

Yes, but it wasn't the one with AS I had problems with! I don't know if it's significant that DS3 was the only one for whom I had a 'stepseat' for the loo. He loved it, but became dependent on it. We weaned him off it by not taking it on holiday with us! With the other two, I had one of those little plastic steps in the bathroom for them to support their little legs when they sat on the loo.

Those seat covers seem to be cheaper here. But there's also a review by a not very impressed mum (although I think she might have been expecting something different from them).

Yup, I think so too. I like Sarah's idea of outweirding him ... :rotfl: I used to outscream mine sometimes!

I told the SENCO that sometimes when ds makes weird noises i copy them, cos he does not realise he is doing it. It makes him 'snap out of it' and ususally giggle.

    Well done to your DD;)

I am shattered after having several talks with ds about how he will have to take himself back to bed when he gets up in the night (because the baby's due soon and he tends to barge into our bedroom :() , he got up just before 1am and screamed and shouted, banged on the door, woke little DS up and yelled, switched lights on and off and created general havoc. We have got to stand our ground on this one though and one thing is i suppose its a good thing we decided to do it now. 3 or 4 weeks til the baby's here may be enough to change things.

Sarah, do you ever use those storyboard things with your DS? I know a friend had one done for her child, which helped get them out of nappies. Picture of child going to bed with no nappy, not looking very happy but not screaming the place down either, not weeing in bed (not sure how that was done), and then everyone waking up in the morning happy!

I am annoyed. ANy advice, what do i do with this situation...

DS's teacher, the one he has on mon tues and weds...
a girl said 'where do i sit' the teacher said 'next to ***-- unlucky'
then later said somehting like 'oh no' when he came came back in the class
and told him off for asking if he was allowed to use felt tips to colour something in.

He is quite worried by this understandably as he is now certain this teacher does not even LIKE him. What a way to talk to a child, ANY child, but it especially makes me cross when they KNOW of his additional needs.

i would be very annoyed too sarah, i would suggest having quiet word with the teacher, or maybe the head.

i'm annoyed with school transport, they know both sons have special needs, are statemented, and on their statement it mentions under additional needs that they require transport to and from school, they have had this before, and every september, same problem, nothing has been arranged and can i do it, til something is sorted, fine except both at different special schools, over 30 miles apart, and both need to be their at 8.45, ., they have had six weeks to sort this, makes me wonder why they are paid. ok rant over lol
enjoy life, we only get one chance at it:)

to which the short answer is clearly "No, or only on alternate days for each of them."

Sarah, that's really hard isn't it, but I would start with the teacher and escalate to the head rather than the other way round ... but have you had anyone corroborate those incidents? I'm not saying they didn't happen, but it's likely the teacher will want to say they didn't happen the way your DS thought they did ...
