Mine went out in the pouring rain for half an hour yesterday. i have found that with DS sometimes what us 'neurotypical' folk may think is crazy, makes perfect sense to him. He likes some things to overwhelm his senses, like rain, he loves the feeling of it so i let him play out the front of the house and he got drenched and loved it.
I take them to the park when i feel more energetic and actively encourage finding the biggest muddiest puddle and jumping in it.
We have had themed days, like a wallace and gromit day, a lego day (yesterday) food, games, internet, colouring, model making all themed.
I am knackered tho cos i am 8 months pg and took him to legoland on tuesday (thanks to social services grant:)) he is in a playscheme today.
Last summer I had a timetable so each day was split into two, something for the morning and something for the afternoon. doesnt involve much, let the kids choose (from a list of suggestions i had made;) plus some of their own suggestions)
social services are coming this PM going round in circles with them we get referred they come and visit, see i'm not a blethering idiot/junkie/drunk/my kids aren't neglected, then they go away and do nothing then we get referred again cos of concerns re ds's behaviour...And so it goes on!Member no.1 of the 'I'm not in a clique' group :rotfl:

It sounds like a great trip Duchy - I've heard bits about it over on DFW but not the full details. He sounds to have coped really well (as do you
).
But liking Coldplay more than Donny??? Have you forgiven him yet??? :rotfl:
Good luck with his results."I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250 -
i can't wait for the 21st either dd1 gets her results in then college have already accepted her because she has done day release with them last 2 yrs She still has to enrol though along with everyone else but at least the college know her what support she needs and she is used to the place so she will plenty of support for her asd (college want to see her results to know whether she will need to work on her english and maths)
Have to make my mind up about senior school for dd2 in september i am thinking about just putting the one choice down as i know the school my dd1 has adequate support for youngest and they dealt quite well with dd2
It's difficult to know what to do for the best as there asd affects each of them in different ways
At least one bright thing dd2 has same teacher this year as well as last she was brilliant and i couldn't ask for better help if there was a problem she would always call me in straightaway rather than let it get worse
she understands the dr who david tennant obssesion and worked out things to get her back on task and things0 -
Good luck with SS Sarah, hope they are of slightly more use to you this time.
What did you think of Legoland? DS really wants to go there but it's a bit of a mammoth journey from here, so we would have to make a long weekend/holiday out of it. Is it well worth going?
Hope you are coping okay, the last stage of pregnancy is soooo tiring."I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250 -
do most places do assistances passes i'm going to take them to drayton manor in the summer waiting for a dry day (if ever we get one) and dd2 doesn't cope well with queueing0

He LOVED it but i am still suffering from having walked so much. We stayed in a travelodge, in slough the night before, it was £40 for the room, and with a railcard we got v cheap tickets by getting all singles instead of returns!
They would have let us queue jump but i was waiting for a copy of our DLA award letter. he preferred the miniature buildings to any of the rides though!
I think most places do this for you if you get DLA, they did seem to be quite helpful to those with disabilities. also being a very big lad DS went on rides alone but i queued with him (can't go on bumpy rides thank goodness cos of my 'condition' LOL)
Well SS are late. Nothing changes there then.Member no.1 of the 'I'm not in a clique' group :rotfl:

...well, SS came at last and did an 'assessment' (filled in a form with all the info that school/consultant/hospital already knows - i need to make a CD with it on I think) and they will 'get back to me'
They could not tell me if it was appropriate to lock myself and DS in a room (and teh baby when it arrives) when DS is having a major meltdown

Hi everyone,
Seems like an age since I posted on here but have been exhausted. Mum sold the house so we have more stuff to being back to the new place and there is nowhere to put it at all so it is piling up in the rooms. Just when we had it sorted as well!!
fallenangel - great news that the picture FINALLY arrived and even better that DT was so accomodating and sent it so quickly. What an angel.
About the passes, all you need is a docs referral letter or something like that - it is all I took to Drayton Manor and we got the bands. Mind you - please expect to hear comments such as 'why the f*** are they getting on at the front' and all that blah - shouted of course so the kids can hear!! Other than that it is great as we would not bother either. We have DLA now so I take them, Bewilderwood also let me go in free with him as a carer. if in doubt call or ask first. Gullivers did not, but it was pretty quiet (because is was dreadful and soooooo worn and stinky, never again) so there were no queues anyhow.
Legoland told me all you need is a letter. If in doubt call but a docs/CAMHS letter is fine and I just took the one that said he had been referred to DM and got the bands.
All is pretty good this end, the odd up and down as to be expected - today has been the worst day by far to be honest, I've had a real struggle, shopping has turned into an absolute nightmare with him ripping stuff of shelves and labels off clothes. I need to get the hairdressers as I do not have my home one anymore and I can't get there.
I've started going to gymnastics 2 days a week with both kids - I take Ryan to the supervised one as he is under 5 but he as been loving it. Today has been a nightmare though, he hit someone one the head, pushed in and pushed people off the equipment. I am shattered and could have gone home there and then. He kicked my friends little girl full in the chest and she came off the chair. Did I say it was going not too bad??
We got into the new school as well, tried to get him to try the uniform on..... hmmmm, not managed to get the sweatshirt on so heaven knows what it is going to be like on the first day back, thank goodness it is not far if I have to go and get him.
Good luck SS, not long to go now, let us know when 'it' finally happens.0 -

Again, I just wanted to say that you do not need to be getting DLA, just have a docs referral letter or something from the hospital and they'll give you the bands. When you get to the park, ask for the childs ticket and explain you are their carer - usually you get in free, they might ask to see the letter. Then you go to Guest Services and ask for the 'Exit Passes' and show your letter. DS will not wear his band so I usually have to. Legoland are the ones who told me that I did not need to be getting DLA, just to take any referral letter from docs/hospital/etc... they seemed the most accomodating for disabled children, and very understanding that kids with ASD/ADHD/ADD cannot 'do' queues, in my opinion!! :T0 -
Thanks for the info blue monkey shall take dla letter with me
I thought it was just me having a wonderfull time getting school uniform dd2 decided she wouldn't go into barratts for school shoes she would only go to clarks so we argued outside shop for 5 mins before i gave in and went to clarks she's got strange feet anyway one wider than other by quite a bit so eventually got shoes from there as we walking to car she decided as we couldn't get trainers to fit here we could go into barratts GGGRRRR and guess what she decided the shoes in there are quite nice after all and she got trainers from there
Delightfull trip to asda afterwards and can i get trousers to fit her can i heck as like because she is overweight due to her sneaking food at 5am or whenever i'm out of sight there all to tight she's only 10 and even age 13 were still tight
Next stop tesco they dont keep anything in navy you can have black or grey in fact nearly all uniform was grey and tried on black trousers thinking head can like it or lump it and they dont fit either so not sure what i'm going to do on the uniform front as yet if anyone has any bright ideas for uniform all help aprreciated none in marks bhs next all to small
Been reading the last couple of days on david tennants website that he's really obliging about sending autographs really quickly although it says now to send all programmes and such to the London address but not the courtyard theater but she is chuffed to little mintballs that she has got signed picture and programme she even asked me to get it in a frame so it's now in a frame (50p from asda she not going to know how cheap) right next to her bed and god help you if you move it
Only trouble is now finding room in her bedroom for all the posters she get doctor who magazine every week and that gives you 2/3 posters all walls covered not an inch to spare back of the door all the sides and doors of wardrobe and still she wants to keep putting more up she says i can put them on the ceiling !!! How she thinks i can do that trick i don't know it's a wonder she hasn't asked to put them up in front room shouldn't say that to loud it'll give her ideas as if she hasn't enough already0
