    congratulations sarah

been having a real bad day with my two, after a period of things being quiet, both have had major tantrums, daniel, has put his arm thru a double glazed window, just got back from a&e, where they x-rayed it before steri-stripping it back together.
josh has had melt down at school, and gone on rampage, punching the school mini-bus, denting it, damaged fence at the sports centre, both at different schools, so not copying off each other
am at my wits end what to do with them both
enjoy life, we only get one chance at it:)
  • congratulations sarah on your new daughter florence...
  • wow congratulations to you and with your new baby, only just stummbled upon this thread and as it has over 2000 posts I would love to sit and read them but dont have the time but its great that you can all help each other out(there are some lovely forums out there where people can all help each other like this thread).....I have a little story to tell you about my son,he is nearly 18 and just going through a diagnosis the doctor has one more assesment to go....he is on the spectrum she wants to know if hes more aspergers or autistic....sorry Im not brilliant with all the terms etc....he has always had problems and weve always known he was "different" but special.....anyway my little story was what happened yesterday while he was going to the doctors , his dad took him to his doctors app and to show him how to do the touch screen on arrival etc as he gets so anxous anyway he got some medication and so had to go to the chemist and the lady took his prescription (picture the scene),put the tablets in the bag and called his name LOUDLY(my husband stood back and observed to see how he would handle this situation)so off my son goes to the counter and says yep thats me,she says to him "please confirm your address",well my husband said his face when she asked him was a picture he said in reply" its on that piece of paper in your hand, ohmy.gif the lady said I need you to confirm your address please :he again said "its there in your hand"by this time she was obviously getting irrate with him and said I need to to confirm your details of where you live please ,at this point he turned round and said help dad where do I live blushing.gif ........he does know where he lives he just got so caught up with why she was asking him his address that by the time he had understood why she needed it he got in such a tis and couldnt say it....I know its not funny as in hysterical but Im sure when you all read this you will picture it in your head and have a giggle at when he and the pharmasist were speaking two completely different languages if you get my meaning.Wanted to share it with you all.......

  • When I was born I wasn't expected until January. End of November my mum thought she wanted to go to the loo, went ... and out I popped. Dad had to deliver me!

My dad has AS traits though. He doesn't even know about it though. He's in his 70s; now I know what's always been annoying/different about him, I can see it.

Very many congratulations Sarah, your little ones too! I watch this board in amazement at how you all cope with the problems that surround you all on a daily basis. The wonderful stories you all tell fills me with such joy and emotion too, and this is one of those where you darling DS1 is concerned. Bless his little heart, he'll go far!!!

    Good luck to you ALL.

Hi Hope you can help me, my mind is racing!

After pushing my son`s school over his lack of progress, he has been given the Ason Index, I have now been told that he has Auditory Sequential Memory, I am waiting to see the full report, they are finding out if I `can` have a copy! Surley if I have expressed a concern, they test him I am allowed a copy? Class teacher has already told me that he will not get a full dyslexia test as it costs too much!

I am trying to keep an open mind, but will be going to see the head if no copy at the school tonight!

Anyhow I have been looking at the web and looking at `The Listerning programme` and `johansen sound threapy` has anyone had sucess with these?

The school have advised my son uses colour overlays and have even given me the details of a local learning center for people with Dyslexia,Dyspraxia and Dysalculla which makes me think he may have more problems than they are lettin on? Or is it just me worring?

He has already been attending a motor skills and movement course at school.

    Thank you

HI everyone, I know it has been an absolute age since anyone posted on this thread but I need some advice.

Things are pretty much the same for us but Ryan is doing better in the school he is in who seem more understanding of his conditions. They actually expected him to be worse that he was!!

Anyhow, CAMHS bounced us 4 times and the doc said to go on a prenting course to get put on the waiting list for CAHMS. So I made enquiries which led to this lady coming around my house from the local childrens centre.

She has not met my kids, all she knows about Ryan is from the letters from the docs and by having spoken to the school.

So here is the thing, she comes around and I do not even know why, there seems to be no reason other than suggesting reward charts and sticker charts. We have our own system where we start the say with 15 pennies, if they are naughty they lose the pennies, they are good they keep them and they go into a pot. This is not good enough for her and there is not enough 'positive reward'. Do I hug my children and praise them if they have done something good. Errr yes, that is part of everyday language for us. But no, that is not enough.

She is around next week and I do not want her coming around anymore, I get little time to myself and no amount of sticker and reward charts are going to help my son stop screaming when we go swimming (so we can't) running out of shops, having major tantrums which mean I cannot go shopping, etc.... And the whole time she leads me to beleive that it is MY FAULT for him being ASD and having ASD behaviours. And I am sick to the back teeth of it.

On the last visist she did this 'geneology chart' as it would be quite insightful for me and I'd get to know more about my family. Well, I found out that I have brothers and sister and a mum and dad, I found out my husband has brothers and a mum and dad. Good grief, please. Have I given up 3 hours of my week to sit and listen to this crap? It seems so. Her input is not worth anything and she has still not given me details of a parenting group.

So I am going to turn the tables and I have questions to ask her such as whether she is finding blaming me for my son being ASD useful. Please can you think of anything I should be asking or saying to her.

This is a huge step for me as I do not 'do' confrontation but I've tried putting her off but she is here for another hour next week. I just do not feel that she is fit to judge my children when she hasnever even met them.

I could go on but I've got to get the kids ready as I am off to the vet to have the rats wotsits cut off, LOL I am a meany. Please help if you can I'll be back more later.

Well i would ask her. A couple of years back a psychotherapist DID blame me blatantly - she said 'you must feel guilty' (for staying with a violent partner - now ex, having a stroke and not being there for my ds etc...yes GUILTY! )evil behatch so i refused to see her and she reported me to social services for 'refusing contact with the service' PURLEEEEESE!
since then with perseverance we have a fantactic consultant who is so patient and knowledgeable and believes that ds has a physical difference in his brain and is initiating further investigations etc.
My ds did all those things in public, sometimes still does but i have to go on my own wwith him 9now with baby in tow0 and give running commentary of what we are doing where we are going why and what will it be like, why is that thing there, those people doing that, how does THAT work??? hes got the uinquisitiveness of a toddler who has just learnt to say WHY and the strength of an ox but the sensitivity of the budgie in the coalmine.
Had major probs a couple of weeks ago but cant post here cos when i posted about it happening before someone blamed ME so pm me blue monkey and i will tell u what happened;)
    best of luck
