Yep, I did 🙁
but I also received this email from Shell when I first joined, advising my price will never go up.Care to comment Shell ?0 -
Yes, I received the same warning today and have reported it to MSE news. I was also caught out by the inc./ex VAT trick that others have reported. Now, if one builds the +VAT along with the extra £2 per month over the whole contract, they would not have looked as attractive as it seemed in the summer.
Back to ploughing through all those Shell energy e-mails to find their original promises.
As far as the broadband service is concerned, once they got it working (took a week to transfer the broadband), it works very well and is often at a higher speed than they promised.

By the same shady practice, Shell Energy has the cheek to claim that it imposes "no hidden costs", whilst burying a "Cease Charge" in its terms and conditions that it makes no mention of in its advertising collateral.1 -
MSE_Chris said:I have just joined and think that at least the 1st of following should have been mentioned.
1. Page 7 of Shell Pricing pdf states that a Cease Charge of £15 will be incurred including after 12 months contract period!!
2. Shell charge £35 if you dont return the Router if they request this.
Shell are very slow to respond to emails and poor comprehension. Their chat facility is always ' we are currently....long wait'
Hi rpip,
We've asked Shell Energy about this £15 cease charge and it's agreed to waive it for all switches made through MSE that came with this £75 bill credit offer. This means you won't be charged £15 should you wish to switch after the min 12 months has elapsed.
All other earlier termination charges will still stand as per it's T&C's.
I hope this helps reassure you and other users who questioned this charge.

Hello
Has anyone joined through MCE’s link during the promotion that ended 6th December and found out its not a 12 month contract but a 18 month one that negates the deal broadcast on 26th November?
