It's far more likely that the bananas were just in the bag to disinguish the reduced bananas from noraml priced loose stock. By opening the bag, the OP removed that distinction.

Still doesn't excuse Tesco's overly heavy handed treatment of a paying customer.

They were green.

Can I sue them under trade descriptions act as I thought all bananas sold had to be yellow?

I feel a public injustice has been done in this case and it is time we stood up to the multi nationals, I have been in negotiations with a major fashion house Dolce & Banana to raise a fighting fund.
