    Heres a petty thought.

Here's one for you, until the bag is paid for, it is the property of the store. If the OP rips the bag to remove an item from it then that is damaging someone elses property. Ergo criminal damage

The op's one of these who's only worried about things that happen to themselves. It's fine for them to do whatever they like to anyone else.

And the op wonders why they get negative reactions for doing this!

Hoping for an update from the OP. Be nice to hear what has happened.

Has anyone been charged with anything?

I was in Morrisons yesterday and when I was passing the fruit & veg. section I noticed there was a 'seconds' bag of bananas reduced to 15p....I put them in my basket and paid for them along with the rest of my shopping. When I got home I opened the bag I was shocked to find every single one of the eight bananas was yellow...no sign of 'blackness' in any of them at all. Do you think I should contact Morrisons and complain? Can I charge them an hourly rate until they are as ripe as they should have been? It's now been 28 hours & there's still no sign of blackness.....HELP!....Should I have opened them & removed the offending 8 and just paid for the bag? Does anyone have a template letter I can use to claim compensation. Maybe I should have looked closer before buying them, but for 15p why should I expect to get perfect bananas?

The OP has not been online for several days ... do you think he has been falsely imprisoned again?!!!

I recon he's just made a new account.

Careful what you wish for. Could be huge male security guard with moobs. (assuming that isn't what you want)

Just going to copy and paste my account of what happened for now, going to the police station to give a statement in a bit.

On 22nd Novemeber 2007 I entered Tesco in Victoria Centre Nottingham. At approx 20.00 I approached the checkout with a plastic bag of discounted bananas, one of which I had removed as it was unfit for sale. I was told Tesco would not honour the discount as I had opened the bag. At this point I took a picture of the banana I removed, and informed the staff I as going to be sending it to trading standards/environmental health. A staff member, who would best be described as off oriental origin, grabbed my left shoulder and lunged at my phone. He got on his radio and I began exiting the store. At this point I as accosted by 2 more staff members, who informed me that it was illegal to take photographs inside the store. I began to leave and a male security guard attempted to block my path with his body. I tried to step around him but to no avail. At this point a number of other security guards and staff members surrounded me and behaved in an extremely intimidating manner. They all blocked my route of exit. They asked me to explain what had happened to the duty manager and I tried to explain but felt I was too frightened (my hands were literally shaking) to continue the conversation. Again I tried to leave and was stopped by the guards, at which point I informed them that this was false imprisonment. I informed the store manager that this was a civil, and not a criminal matter and that if needed I would give him my contact details so this could be pursued further. The guards then allowed me to leave.

Obviously you were after your 15 minutes of fame. Could you have not got it some otherway.

er...what? Thousands of people are arrested every day without commiting an offence. Whether an offence has actually been commited is normally only decided in the courts.

well, let me put it another way-the person who arrests them has to believe they have commited a criminal offence before they arrest them-happy now?
