re not sleeping - if you're been stressed for a long period of time, it can affect your cortisol levels and makes them wrong at the wrong times of day. Which can make you sleepy in the morning and "tired but wired" at night. It's worth a google as there are some things you can do to help support a return to normal levels xx
That sounds quite accurate actually. I'm shattered all day then wide awake by about 8pm. I shall look into it thanks

Hi all
Worked a straight 8 hr day without a break so no spending. Managed to get a meal cooked, hoovered through, dusted upstairs, sorted some washing and all done for 7pm which was good. Should have gone to pilates but will go later in the week, just wanted to chill out at home tonight.0 -

La E Not being old fashioned but if you have kids - is there enough calcium and stuff in the oat milk? It sounds good though, I have been using almond milk for myself, but I guess environmentally oats are a bit more local - so I might give it a try - I just need to get the nutri bullet first.Yip, just instead of cow's milk - we spend about £7 to £9 a week on milk so I'm hoping we can cut this down quite a bitIsa help to buy: 1000/3000 33%

carrielovesfanta - you have my sympathy, I had pleurisy (a form of pneumonia) 20 years ago. Be patient with yourself - you will get back to normal, and every day you'll feel just a little bit better.
Debt-free stuff I did yesterday -
- made blackberry jelly from the blackberries I'd picked the day before
- saved the squished blackberries from the jelly making (portioned up in the freezer) to mix with natural yogurt for a quick and simple pudding
- I'd made cottage cheese from some milk that had gone sour, so I mixed the whey with oats to make porridge for this morning. Seems a shame to waste it - I haven't done it before, so will report back...
Debt-free stuff I hope to get done today -
- eat the porridge made with whey Done - hmm, tasted different from porridge made with milk, not unpleasant. Certainly better than pouring it down the drain.
- ironing (only a couple of items) - done
- clean the bathroom using a minimum of 'product' - most areas just need to be wiped with a damp cloth, then I'll use something stronger on the shower screen and shower tiles, and on the loo.
- print off tickets. I'm off to see A Midsummer Night's Dream in the grounds of East Riddlesden Hall tonight. Not especially money-saving (although as theatre tickets go, £16 is a snip) - but it's my first night out in about 3 months. I'll take a picnic with me. I'll be driving, so won't be buying alcohol when I'm there. Done
- check my bank account to make sure there's enough in there for the mortgage payment on 26th and move money around if necessary. There should be, if my calculations are correct, but best to check. Done - and there was. Phew.
- pick more blackberries. I'm going to freeze these ones and use them over the winter. The bushes are absolutely laden with them, but I never see anyone else out picking them. Such a waste.
I started my new job yesterday. It looks like I'll be too late for the August pay roll, so not out of the woods yet - but it's a start. It'll be nice to know there's a regular amount coming in each month. Plus the lodger moves in on Sunday so that's another income stream. Getting there. No longer a spouse, or trailing, but MSE won't allow me to change my username...0 -
Hi everyone
Ditty - Yes, I think if you don't want to give kids cows milk then you need to make sure they get enough calcium in other ways (fortified cereals, milk substitutes, leafy greens). Not an issue here though as baby girl is just 3 months.
I guess you could make it with any hand held blender tbh. The recipe I saw said to use a sieve rather than a nut milk bag and don't squeeze too much out at the end because that's what makes it oily/slimey...
The main thing in our house is that OH is lactose intolerant so he buys lactofree stuff, usually £1.40 a litre but if we go to the local shop it's £1.65 a litre! Now with me being home every day (and not using work's milk for breakfast and tea like I've been doing for 5 years) we've started buying 4 litres for home and then OH goes through 1 - 1.5l in work. Crazy amount for 2 people I think...
Trailing - it's annoying to miss the payroll cutoff, but it sounds good about your lodger moving in. Just think of your bumper pay packet next month.
CCL - Phew for your insurance! Hope kitty gets better soon.
Just the usual here today...
- Need to call mortgage peeps again...
- Do home insurance comparison if I remember
- WM and hanging dry
- Using up veg in a stir fry (and soup if it's gone too far :rotfl:)
- Making courgette fritatas if the courgette is still ok...
- Meal planning/online shop
- Made bread
- Go out a walk if it's not raining later...
- Sent pals a referral link for kidstart - we both get a fiver if they sign up with my link
Rightyoh, I'll catch up with you later.0 -
Morning folks!
Thanks again for everyone's well wishes. I feel so much brighter just for knowing why I'm not well still! I got to sleep fine last night and slept through well until my alarm which has made me very happy
There's also been a breakthrough in the awkward work project so I feel very happy to have a plan
Today's small things:
:heartpuls B/L/D from stores - done
:heartpuls App working again. Excellent customer services from the folks behind Our Home app as they have fixed it for me
- done. Glad I emailed.
:heartpuls A big bag of my fave tea from my friend - done
:heartpuls Nip out to greenhouse as it's been neglected and probably desperate to be watered - done
:heartpuls No alcohol - done
:heartpuls Take my seeds - done, multivitamin and protein - done
:heartpuls Back to the gym with my first rehabbing session
- done
:heartpuls Tidy round the house a bit - done
:heartpuls Put some washing away

Morning all

Thanks for the oat milk explanation La E
Trailing, hope the new job goes well, you have been very productive!
CCL, hope you love your new sofa
Bleurrgh, I felt unwell last night and went to bed early and this morning I have a cold and sore throat
Dosed myself up to relieve some of the symptoms, as it always makes my asthma play up  OH forgot to set his alarm last night because I wasn't awake to tell him to do so,so was late for his golf game /meeting up with friend. Drives me mad!
Anyway, onwards. I have plans for today, and will jolly well make sure they happen. Today's small things (actually include rather expensive things
)
Washed hair with everlasting shampoo bar and left to dry naturally
HG raspberries with breakfast
Pay BT line rental saver. BT are expensive with horrible customer service. However, their broadband does work reliably in this area, which many of the competitors do not. And I am still scarred from a T*lkt*lk experience a few years ago, Disclaimer - their customer service was far worse, and their broadband etc did not work! Anyway, bit the bullet and paid up! It does make it a bit cheaper.
Pay window cleaner who still hasn't come back to complete the job
Pay breakdown renewal for car
Try to persuade OH to part with some unused and unloved golf clubs (he has absolutely loads, 2 full sets plus lots of unused extras which regularly fall over in the garage entrance) to a freecycler who is requesting some for a charity craft project.
Clean bathroom
Make a curry to use up more fridge stuff
Pick more tomatoes
Freeze some beans
Not going anywhere today, so I won't be spending anything (other than paying above bills).
Hope everyone has a good day
