    CLF OH's recovery from pneumonia is going quite well, but he does get chesty quicker than previously. Unfortunately his chronic condition is flaring up at the moment.

    ditty I'm pleased to hear ds has the results he needs to proceed with his plans.

    ditty Heartened to hear people were kind to ds and you were able to get to his aid swiftly.

    CCL Congratulations on your results. Try and remember these great results next time self doubt rears its ugly head.

    Dawn Please rest and give your body the opportunity to recover, remember it isn't that long ago since your operation.

    Morning Campers,
    Goodness me, there have been some trials & tribulations on here since I last checked in. I do hope everyone is picking up now, or at the very least feeling able to cope with what life is throwing at them. My love to everyone xx
    I've been lured from comfy bed by needing coffee, so have been thinking about what I need to do today:
    *Batch cook. Picked a basket of produce yesterday & want to maximise its use.
    *Water veg & see if any more beans are ready.
    *Make another batch of pesto.
    *Start this week's house clean, which I intend to split between today & tomorrow morning unless I have a burst of energy.
    *Sweep courtyard where Mr F had a charcoal incident & seems to have forgotten where we keep the brush!
    *Meal plans for next week.
    *Start shopping list.
    *Knit Christmas gift...... starting with the two very long rows I had to frog last night to get rid of a tiny mistake. It didn't show much, but I knew it was there & it would have annoyed me for the duration of the project.
    *Email solicitor as a piece of info received yesterday contradicts something we were told originally regarding inheritance tax. I'll be glad when all this legal stuff is done & dusted. £210 an hour! I think I chose the wrong profession!
    OK, heading off in search of caffeine & toast now.
    F xx
    2026's challenges: 1) To rebuild our Emergency Fund to at least £5k.
    2) To read 50 books (12/50) 3) The Re-Shrinking of Foxgloves 8.1kg/30kg
    Remember....if you have to put it on a credit card, extend your overdraft or take out a loan to buy whatever it is, you probably can't afford it, as that's not your money, it's somebody else's!

    Crikey ditty1234 - fingers crossed for a calm, relaxing, bank holiday for you.

    Today I will be -
    - shopping. At Aldi, with a list. The list is already written - I did a 'search and destroy' on the fridge last night to see what was lurking (not a lot, to be fair!!), what needed to be used, and what was missing. I then did a meal plan based on my shifts for the coming week (on the day I finish at 3 I'll be making a curry from scratch, on the day I don't finish until 8pm it'll be something that can go straight from the freezer to the microwave). And I will be sticking to my list. Average weekly food bill (since records began, which was February) is £17.84. That's for one person, but includes an occasional takeaway, coffee out, and so on. Done. Spent £15.61, so below the average spend. Go me.

    - clean the bathroom. Which should have been done yesterday but wasn't. No excuses, just couldn't be arrised. Done. That shower didn't know what had hit it.
    - empty the freezer and defrost/clean. It doesn't need doing often, but as the lodger's moving in on Sunday and I've said he can use the freezer if he wants to, I've decided it needs a sort out. Tomorrow is another day...
    - pick blackberries. Again, planned to do this yesterday but the rain never let up all day. Today looks like it might be more conducive. I'll then put them in my shiny clean and tidy freezer. Nope.
    - go to the gym. I finish work at 3 today so I'll be at the 5:30 session. Done.
    - pizza for tea. This is my Friday night treat. I buy a pizza from Aldi, cook half and freeze half. I have it with a salad and a glass of something alcoholic from stores. I'll put it in the oven before I go to the gym, so when I get back I just have to switch the oven on and by the time I've had my shower and got sorted it's just about ready. Done

    - do some washing. A load of normal clothes, a load of uniform (it's black, so don't want to risk it with everything else until it's had a few washes). First load in, and almost dry. Second load in. Will get it all dry tomorrow.

    Just added to the list - cut the grass. It's finally dried out, so need to do it while I have the chance. Other stuff will just have to wait. Done.

    Wishing you and yours a lovely (and incident-free) Bank Holiday weekend.
    No longer a spouse, or trailing, but MSE won't allow me to change my username...

    Morning all,
    BIg hugs to all who are struggling at the minute, lots of stresses, illness and worries.
    Todays list
    # go to the gym to make the most of my membership (& dh to come to as he's on holiday this week so he's making the most of his new membership too) Will refill water bottles there.
    # go to the trampoline place, I've emailed them to cancel ds2s membership as he doesn't want to do it after breaking his arm there but ds1 would still like to go. (can I wrap him in bubble wrap first?....)
    # whilst out pop into Mr A as I know that they have dh's coffee on offer - also look for new pencil case for ds1 as his old one is wrecked
    # Get the rest of the shopping we need from alddee with my list, we haven't switched back on the 2nd fridge/freezer yet so need to be mindful of space
    # sort out wardrobes with dh. Add more to the charity shop pile I'm sure! When we sorted through his wardrobe in January we turned all the coathangers the wrong way around to help see what he actually uses. Theres at least half his of them still facing the wrong way I reckon.
    # look to see if there's a way of making some money from some old records dh has.
    # take a photo of our dvd stash as we've recently sold a load of stuff to cex and used some of the vouchers to buy some very cheap dvds from them that we love but when in there the other day we very nearly bought one we'd bought the week before! If I have a pic on my phone and just update it we'll not have a problem.
    # check banking/update spreadsheet
    # help ds2 set up his little spreadsheet as he's now got a debit card on his account

    Thats my starter as I really ought to go and get dressed for the gym.

    Take care all.

    I'm not sure what we are planning on doing today. So I will crack on with the children's lessons.

    Todays list:
    PAD
    NSD
    Pmp
    Home educate children for free
    Stick to the meal plan
    B/L/D from stores
    Make a batch of porridge
    Make a loaf
    Continue with our project to refurbish our door handles, the springs inside have broken, instead of buying replacements we bought a tool and replacement springs, saving us a couple of hundred £ :money:

    Continue with project email, I have started to weed out my files, spending about 10-20 minutes a day decluttering and I can see l am making progress. I am feeling like I am keeping on top of 5 of my email accounts, the 6th I read and deal with what comes in, but I haven't found a way that works for me regarding what needs storing & where.

    Afternoon all.

    Ditty - I hope you are all ok. Sounds like a tough couple of days.

    Today I have/ will:
    * Take lunch to work
    * Update spreadsheet with yesterday's spends
    * Go to the gym at lunch
    * Check OP and PA
    * Book free eye test
    * Charge phone in work
    * Probably pop to friends on way home from work rather than meet them out later (as I won't be drinking anyway and OH doesn't want to go - saves on petrol and a soft drink)
    * Dinner from stores

    Hmm, that seems like a very short list! Must be more things! Hope you all have a good Bank Holiday weekend!
    Debt as at 5 June 2023 - £15,600.89
    Current debt - £5,100
    Total paid off - £10,500.89 (67% paid off)

    Hi all

    Ditty hope he is OK, what a shock for you too. I remember when DS came of his bike, far less dramatic than your boy, but we thought he had broken his arm. It was awful.

    After much debating we have booked to take DS away for a night, at a bargain cost of £37 for the three of us. DSs ex-GF is being really nasty for no obvious reason and some of DSs friends are taking sides, so it will be nice to treat him, and it wont be long before he goes off to uni.

    Not sure what else the weekend brings. Oh another family BBQ Sunday, want to try and get out and enjoy the good weather.

    Evening all :)
    Felt vile all day, and have taken it easy, but have come to life a bit now it is cooler :)
    OH is off on his adventures with big diggers and stuff, so just me and the dog for the weekend - unless DD2 and kids come over tomorrow, which is pretty likely :rotfl:
    Anyway, I have managed the following:
    Not spent anything :A

    HG berries with breakfast
    Stripped off spare bed and washed linen, cleaned ensuite and dusted furniture. Didn't get round to hoovering, but I will do that tomorrow.

    Posted 2 ebay items
    Added some items to my sales unit while out, as there were big gaps :)
    Walked dog

    Watered whatever needed it in the back garden
    Picked beans, tomatoes, courgettes and raspberries
    Took some rhubarb out of the freezer to cook it down. I will refreeze it in shallow foil containers and hope to gain a bit of freezer space by getting rid of big lumpy bags! If it works I will do more tomorrow!

    Also got out a lumpy, unruly bag of what I think is stewing lamb. I will convert this to a tagine tomorrow when it has defrosted properly.

    Batch of tomatoes roasted ready for converting to sauce tomorrow (I am going to be busy tomorrow, aren't I?)
    Freecycler came and picked up a clattering pile of old, unloved golf clubs :T OH is a bit of a hoarder, so I was pleased to be able to persuade him to let these go - he does play golf, but still has a set of (expensive) clubs.... plus a spare set :eek:
    Hoping to get a bit more sleep tomight, cough permitting!
