September 2019 Grocery Challenge
Comments

It was raining so I couldn't do much outside so I went shopping. 39.50 spent on food plus 9.85 which isn't part of my grocery challenge. The challenge is working well not only do I question what I buy regarding food but it carries over into cleaning and toiletries
That leaves 53.03 to last until the end of the month. Anything left will be squirreled away.0 -
Another spend for me today of £35.62 spread across Lid1, Icel*nd and Morries. Thursday's final shop shouldn't be too much as I bought plenty of fish and I already have enough meat in the freezer for this week and beyond but will need to buy some more when I go to the butchers next month. Down to my final lot of sausages which we've been having for weekend breakfasts instead of the usual bacon! Still lot loads of burgers left though!
£48.66 left for my final shop of September.

As predicted I veered off my meal plan but not by loads - I got gifted this beauty... I will put what it is below!!
It's a trombone squash! (or Italian tromboncini) - a guy in work grew it and gave it to me! Was very excited to try it... and it's really yum! I just gave it a good wash as everyone in work had "fondled" it :rotfl: then peeled off the scratched areas of skin, then just chopped and roasted with some butternut squash, with dried sage, fresh rosemary, basil oil and salt and pepper... got 4 big portions of that!
Raw:Roasted:
Sat down last night and made a list of all the fresh stuff I have in (I always have all the basics in my cupboards so only really plan for the fresh stuff as I keep a good selection of dry goods!) . Just need to come up with some ideas - I get paid Thursday so my month finishes today, but if I'm careful I can stretch food to Friday - by careful I mean not gettingpayday excited :j:o
This is my dry goods cupboard - my friend has a Cricut machine so I designed my labels on that. I love it so much, it makes me SO VERY happy opening this cupboard!! The random packet on the right is just more red rice as I stupidly thought the jar was big enough for 2 packs - it wasn't. Behind the middle column on the top is flat rice noodles and on the bottom is wholewheat rice vermicelli. Neither of them fit in jars annoyingly so I just keep them behind the pillar thing. Not a perfectionist... AT. ALL. :rotfl::eek:

I was doing really well but my downfall has been takeaways (2 this month) and lunch at work. I either forget to take my prepared lunch or some days just don't fancy what I've made.
I used to do that when I was working. My brain entered autumn and my mouth said no to salads. I made soup once I realised what was happening, and whopped it in the microwave at work.
Your body may well enter autumn as well as the treesSave £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £9586.01 out of £6000 after August (158.45%)

£40.92 Spent in Tesco, but not counting it in as I had a £65 gift card from them, my t.v. connection to sat box broke, as it was 1 month out of their guarantee I complained bitterly, they sent me the card to shut me up, then my sister, the bright one, told me how to connect it another way, HDMI, feel a bit guilty now, stocked up on a few luxury bits as well as essentials.Do I need it or just want it.0
