    Hi,
Can anyone please explain the sense of this to me. Today my husband has taken out a car insurance policy with Swintons. It says on the price compare site that you get £75.00 cash back off the price. He went through to Swintons and set the policy up as it was one of the cheapest ones around and enquired about the £75.00 that has to be taken off the price. They explained that he has to pay all of the insurance quote PLUS the £75.00 and they in turn will send back to him the £75.00 after 30days.
 As it was one of the cheapest he is going with it but I can not honestly see the point of this £75.00 cash back that isn't.

just phoned up this morning to check the same quote over the phone with the internet price and it was. and includes the below as well, so far it has come back cheapest quote for car insurance with free below as well, so still looking around if anything else if not will go with these as this is £25 cheaper than the insurance we have now plus she was going to buy breakdown cover as well but with this included in price seems very 'Homestart' good :-)
ring this number instead of the one on web page that i found on sayno web site 0800 4794507

Footman James’ modern private car insurance policies include as standard; • European & UK Breakdown cover
    • Homestart
    • Motor Legal Expenses
    • Personal Injury due to Road Rage & Carjacking
    • Emergency European Travel Cover

    used search engine https://car-insurance.quotezone.co.uk/car/index.php

    update
rang up Tesco Insurance to cancel as i told them found a better offer with free breakdown cover with Footman James
Tesco said that they would match the offer, but it was with the basic breakdown cover and i told them no, so they upgraded to the top cover with Homestart and also have offered a £30 voucher

    so well pleased :-)
  • Does anyone know when the best time is to do an insurance quote, like at the end of the month or the begining for example, my insurance is due on 2nd September.

Oh just to say as well when looking for car insurance especially on the comparison websites (moneysupermarket), I asked for protected no claims on my seach and it also came up in the policy summary with One Call, but when reading the main description from One Call it was not included - so just be very carefull.

Once cashback's taken into account, the amount payable for the above two companies would be the same for me, and reading their policy terms and conditions, the cover's similar too (apart from admin charges and cancellation fees, where the CIS are lower). When looking for reviews for these companies (neither of which I've used before), I've found some very bad reviews for both, and not much good for either. Does anyone here have any good feedback on either of them, please?

Their quote was bit more expensive. Are they particularly good?

They are cheap and cheerful, it was just your name that makes me think you would have tried them...

Doh! Sorry, slow on the uptake on that one!
  • Both my Building & Contents and Car Insurance just came up for renewal and following tips from this site I eventually found that Saga (yes Saga) came out cheapest on both. I saved £200 on my Buildings & Contents and Saga do 0% monthly payments and I saved £70 on my Car and once again got 0% monthly repayments! I know they are giving a hefty online introduction but I found it cheaper to go through a comparison site than direct even with the discount!
