The "legal protection" isn't for disputing liability. It provides you with someone to turn to to get back any uninsured losses from the third party if you are involved in a claim for which you aren't to blame.0

Thanks for your reply - I hadn't realised that. Just to confirm: if there was an injury resulting from the accident, that would be covered, but not, say a 42" TV that happened to be in the boot of the car!!? The latter is what legal protection would cover, but that could be pursued as a private claim anyway?0

No, both items would need to be a "private" claim against the third party. (Assuming the TV wasn't properly covered - personal belongings usually are but only up to a low limit - eg £150 with norwich union)
Though if you are injured (as long as it wasn't your fault), you'd have no problem getting a claims handler/solicitor to act for you FOC in a claim against the third party.0 -
I am 17 and just passed my driving test and i was wondering if anyone knew any cheap insures? As i cant not believe the quotes i have recieved.0

ive just used confused and got elephant to insure my 18yr old for a 1.0 saxo t reg for 848 fully comp. I am a named driver (not the main and adding my 18yr old) didnt think that was bad, using another comparison site, elephant quoted 1200!!! so it looks like its worth using more than one comparison site...

One might want to accidently have fat fingers when inputting your tel no. in this sites .... seemed to get loads of calls , even if I tick the no contact box
I Always do this (wrong number trick) .....BUT I was still on the P/c going through comparison sites for car insurance (Hasting Insurance had the cheapest quote, BUT the reviews were not good) THEN I got a 'phone call from Hasting Insurance  As soon as she said she represented Hasting's insurance I said ' NO, NO, NO, don't do this to me' and put the 'phone down. Had I listened to her, I'd still be on the 'phone 1/2 hr later!!!!0 -
I've just gone with Aviva. Quote £208 minus £70 quidco taking it to £138. I'm sure I could have spent a bit more time on this reducing the price further, but I;ve already spent ages on this and my RSI is playing up!! I'm happy with £138, much better than my £224 Shiela's Wheels renewal.
I see the pru seem fairly competitive, but I went with them the year before and so don't want to risk not getting the cashback.£2019 in 2019 #44 - 864.06/20190 -

Quick question.
I'm fully comp with Churchill and pay around £23.50 monthly.
I've got 5 years no claims and the policy is up for renewal in November. Have been with Churchill since I got my car.
I know it works out a few £ cheaper paying the lot in one go but is this wise?
I've heard things about companies automatically renewing the policy and taking the money before you get a chance to look around for a better deal etc.
Personally, making one single payment rather than bits coming out every month would be a lot easier for me.0 -

You just inform the company that you don't want them to renew your policy automatically. I have been caught out myself and once I had proved that I had been insured with another insurance company since my last insurance expired, they were happy to refund me.0
