TBH, I doubt my area is more highly populated than Preston, but I understand the point you are making. Surely though 11 years NCB and all that time at the same address should account for this?
I have read elsewhere that we are a postcode with a very high % of personal injury claims per crash ratio (no idea if that is true or not), which also is supposed to affect it, but it feels extremely harsh for me to have to pay so much more than someone who doesn't live around as many personal injury claimants.A smile costs nothing, but gives a lot.It enriches those who receive it without making poorer those who give it.A smile takes only a moment, but the memory of it can last forever.0 -

I have just been looking around the comparisson sites for my renewal, due 1st September.
Last year my policy cost £435 with Endsleigh, this year the cheapest quote I can find is £713 and thats with 11 years NCB and over the 5 years with no points on my licence.
I was pretty blown away to see a price hike like that and wondered how it could be justified given I now have another years NCB and another year without any blemishes on my licence, it just doesn't really add up.
I live in the BB11 postcode and out of interest I inputted a work colleague's postcode of PR7 only to find now that the quote with all the other details the same is £490. Surely this is discrimination in some respect? Why do I pay so much more for the same product?0 -

Seriously? So the one extra grade means I have to pay an extra £223 or ~50%? Seems like extortion to me.
Feels extremly unfair, but they have you over a barrell as it's a legal requirement. Sigh.A smile costs nothing, but gives a lot.It enriches those who receive it without making poorer those who give it.A smile takes only a moment, but the memory of it can last forever.0 -
When signing up with a new insurer always check out what is their maximum number of NCD years
I failed to do this 2 years ago when I signed up with Churchill and now I find myself regretting it
When I signed up I had well over 5 years NCD
Last September I had an accident as the result of a skid on a wet road.
While I can compliment them on dealing with my claim fast and fairly only now, almost a year later I learn to my regret that I am reduced to only 3 years NCD
Last year it never came into question because my renewal quote seemed acceptable at £260 but only this year did I find out that Churchill only give up to 5 years NCD
This year I was quoted over £200 more than last year and asked what my NCD was and told only 3 years as a result of the accident
A claim on a non protected NCD will set you back 2 years
Therefore
If you are with a company that offers something like 9 years maximum and then change to a company like Chirchill your NCD automatically becomes reduced to 5 years and will never increase above that.
When it comes to renewal time always check out the number of years NCD they offer and before you leave your current insurer check out if its worth the loss of years you may incur by changingIWasLookingBackToSeeIfSheWasLookinBackToSeeIfIWasLookinBackAtHer.....0 -
I took out some insurance for my daughter whwn she first got her provisional license and was quoted £1600 ish. I did a quote at the same time for a full driving license and was quoted £2200 ish (it is still that amount when I did a quote today). She recently passed her test 8 months into the insurance and I was expecting her to have to pay another £200 i.e. 4 month insurance on a full license. However, they are charging me £600 (called adjustment charges!) - it looks like she is having to pay a full years premium for having a full license Is this standard practice? What options do I have?0

Hello everyone,
I'm hoping someone can help me. 2 years ago I went for insurance with Kwik fit and I had myself a good deal. After my insurance was due to finish(15/08/10) I received renewal for my insurance but this time they were giving me very high quote so I called them and cancel my renewal with them. At the same time my car was in garage for major repairs for nearly a month so I thought as my car is not on the road I have plenty time to find new insurer. I got myself new deal on 24/08/10 and everything was ok until couple off weeks ago when I received another renewal from Kwik Fit and was shocked. Now call me stupid or something but I never checked my bank statements and not very organised person so just when I got my renewal from them I thought something is not right and checked my statements and realised that they were charging me whole year for insurance with them. i called them again and cancel my renewal again asking to get something in writing this time. But my concern was about whole year payment i made to them along with the payments for my correct insurer. I talked to them about that and they said that if I can provide them with my other policy with the other company they will look into it and I might get refund but they asked me for isurance from 15/08/10 and my new insurance was actually from 24/08/10. I did sent them documents anyway and waiting for reply but want to get second opinion if maybe someone was in similar situation. Was it illigal that my car was in garage not on the road not insured? is it a must that one insurance have to start when another is finished? Do I have anything against them when they will reply that there was 9 days break between insurances? Ohh another thing when I spoke with them and I said that i specifically cancelled my renewal with them they replied that there is nothing in their system( is it my fault?) and asked me for the name of the person I spoke to but hello?! that was last year how I suppose to remember that? Another thing which might be important is that this year I had my first accident and had to make a claim and didn't contact Kwik fit at any point as genuinely didnt know i have insurance with them!!

Hi guys,
My insurance is up for renewal in a month and I have been shopping around for a cheap car insurance. I turned 25 back in July and have 2 years no claim bonus. I have held the license for over 5 years.
I have BMW 318 1.9 and the insurance I paid on it last year was around £1600. I heard of the myth when you turn 25 your insurance are reduced but to my despair the quotes I am getting are all around £2000 90% value of my car. I have tried with an voluntary excess of £750 and with only 3 points in last 5 years I am considering all possible options.
Could someone advise me where can I get cheap reasonable insurance? Or is it something I am doing wrong? Does every 25 years old pay that sort of insurance in this country? How long do I have to pay this sort of insurance? Or is it about the time I have to buy a 900 cc toyota iq?0 -
Turning 25 helps because you don't face the extra compulsory excess that under 25s have to pay. But no special reduction in premium - especially this year!0

amazing .. did an online quote and got one for £240 .. then went back and re quoted from same company £760 minutes later !!!
called them up , they found the £240 quote and £760 quote went through the details .. then told me the quote didnt exist !!
eh? whats all that about??0
