Try adding an additional driver eg parent or especially a partner as this often reduces the premium, make sure the person has a valid licence, you declare the correct information about them and they actually exist
Thats not an option my parents live in Manchester im in Liverpool and my partner can't drive.0 -
You can still add your parents as drivers assuming they drive0

Only if it is them that is driving your car, try getting quotes with one or more of your parents to see what (If any) saving there is0

I don't know about 96p for a car insurance policy my renewal price is £80 more than last year and for the first time ever I'm not getting any quotes back that are lower than my renewal price and its not as though its even a great price!!
I've followed the guide but can't even find any cashback offers or deals that would save me some money & bring the price down. I can't believe its gone up & by so much, especially as I've got a non fault claim that is now over the 5 years & doesn't have to be declared. And why is it that Insurance companies ask you to declare any penalty points from the last 5 years even those that expire after 4 years? Whats really annoying is that I've got to declare expired points for the sake of 3 months, if my policy wasn't due until July I wouldn't have to declare them anymore.
At this rate I'm going to have to sell my car to pay for the insurance!! :eek:0 -

Have you tried running your details through Aviva and LV separately?0 -

LV is just short of £40 more than my renewal price, Aviva are £3 cheaper but I can't print at the moment & Aviva charge £3 for posted documents so they work out the same as my renewal, have just noticed the £30 Quidco offer so as long as it tracked & paid out thats £30 back. £420 still seems excessively high though!
Is it possible for you to add a 'named driver'? That usually helps bring the cost down. And, remember to remove legal protection if it's already been added without you selecting it. Unless of course, you want it0 -
Topcashback seems to be paying £70 on Aviva car insurance at the moment.

Unfortunately I haven't got any one I could add as a named driver, no family... or friends for that matter (:p) plus I've got to sort it in the next 15 minutes & I don't know anyone who'd still be up to get their details.
I do usually keep or add the Legal Cover although I can't remember why, doesn't it normally give you access to legal services up to a certain limit for matters other than relating to motoring?0 -

In a society in which most people live paycheck to paycheck, there isn't much wiggle room for emergency situations that cost a lot of money. Unfortunately, auto accidents are the kind of emergency situations that can easily drain a bank account. Even in a minor one with no injuries, the cost of paying for another person's vehicle and your own can run into the thousands. For this reason, it's better to pay a monthly fee that is known and within your budget than to pay nothing and lose everything.0
