Your car Insurance covers you for Unlimited injury damages and probably £5m or more for property damage which is a lot more than your £2m public liability.

It's shocking the lack of knowledge demonstrated by the Admiral employee but sadly indicative of the quality of call center staff

    Hi Mallygp
I did a few virtual quotes online because while my car was parked outside my house, someone reversed down the street and scraped down the side of both doors. (first time the car had been left on the road for years)
As you must report all accidents, I did quotes without the incident, and with the incident, and the increase was around £40 with.
I was in the house at the time, I was lucky the driver was good enough to knock on the door and admit liablility. But basically it has not only effected the third party driver it has compromised my insurance also. Rip-off Britain again
So the moral of the story is, do not tell your insurance company anything! but that negates your policy so ya screwed.
As the incident was over 4 years ago, I noticed that various company's ask the question have you had an accident in either the last 4 or 5 years so the incident does not need to be reported again. Whether they search and STILL use the old data to quote you is still open to question.

can someone tell me if you add your name on to your sons car insurance to try and get the qoute cheaper and i am a second driver, if he ever has a claim on his car , will that effect my ncb on my own car that i owe, as i am on his car policy as a second driver?

when it comes to renew my insurance would i have to declare the claim on his insurance?

Any claims he makes will have no effect whatsoever on your NCD, nor do you have to declare them to your insurer.

But if you make any claims on his policy then although they will not affect your NCD they would have to be declared to your own insurer.

Its not just speeding people need to be aware of... I had been daft enough to to leave my insurance the last few years on auto renew, my accident was in 2009 and was only closed 2 weeks ago because (this is a good one!) the other party pulled out and withdrew the claim - err how about my damadge!

anyway sorry I back to the point.. the broker tried to charge me extra for not informing them about the accident..sorry I thought I only had to inform my insurance company and this would show on the wonderfull sharing database that they use to auto review.. not so! they tried to fine me for not informing them prior to auto renew and the extra premuims to date. To which there was a very short conversation I confess very curt on my part (very important though do not loose your temper or use abusive language) I closed saying I would report this to the FSA and I would be the worse press they would ever want and low and behold a week later I got an apology and the fine/extra penalites written off. I can only advise that people update everyone of everything continually.... what a nightmare and very easily missed!

can someone tell me if they can,
when i put my name on my son's insurance, i have been driving 24 years, no claims , the qoute was £1600, but when i add my daughter as well as a driver, she has been driving for 9 years , it brought the qoute down to £1250, i thought with me been a driver longer and older it would be cheaper, but i put my daughter on it it come back a lot cheaper, can i add the 2 of us? even tho she wont be driving my sons car?

    thanks again for advice.

    Sex comes into it!

You can put the 2 of you down. Remember though that any claims/convictions either of you get your son must be told about and he in turn must tell his insurer.
