Glad the date went so well.  He sounds like a very genuine guy.  Just take it steadily so he's not overwhelmed by the differences in your two lives.  Sounds ,like he'a low key man who appreciates the simple things in life and has his values in the right place.  You deserve a run of good fortune and I hope it works out for you.  It must feel hard not to be excited when you make comparisons with yiur ex.

Thank you for sharing, I think I am in that place now. I'm married to a drunk who just uses me for money (well that's what it feels like) 

We cant afford to live separately and our house needs a lot of work so am depressed about the state of the place while he spends hundreds of pounds down the pub and at golf x

That`s very sad.  \i do know the  feeling. My ex frittered money away on drink.  Is there no way you can leave?

He sounds a nice guy with a good value system.    Just try and take things steadily.  You've  come too far and made too much progress to throw all that  away   Sometimes when you start finding yourself in a better place it's temporarily easy  to forget how hard the struggle was to get there but you sound as if you're well aware of that so good luck and may this continue well for you
