Morning!
So been looking at some numbers and i think i will come in about £400 paid on the CC this month. £100 more than i guessed. Im pleased with that! That will mean that hopefully next month I can dip below the £1,000 mark.
I saw on channel 4 there is a new money program, basically, its where people go and get personal financial advice called 'save well, live better' the point of the show is to have frank financial conversations with real people. I watched the first episode, and im not sure it was over whelming to be honest, but the concept is right up my street so im going to keep watching! My debt free journey, diary and all! Under a £1000 on our credit card will be amazing especially at this time of year. So close to being debt free and able to start saving towards your goals. And starting a new job too. Things have changed so much for you since you started your diary. Good decision to delete the ghost man. You don't need people like that in your life.0

Thanks MoneyWhizz. I read these diaries everyday and i think they are such amazing examples of what can be done when we really put our minds to it. Looking back to just a few months ago when i started my journey, i was constantly panicking about money, always 'running out', not realising that if i just budgeted I could actually afford £300 ish per month to be spent when i thought i had nothing! I wish id had my LBM years ago!!!My debt free journey, diary and all! New Life Pending :beer:0

I think you're an amazing example of someone who had definitely had their lightbulb moment and wanted to turn their finances around. I see people come to the forums here looking for help and advice and when they're not told what they want to hear they go off in a strop. You have taken on board all advice and comments respectfully and with dignity. You're a single mum living in (I think) the most expensive city in the UK, you've worked your backside off to turn it around and you're absolutely nailing it, with a nicely written diary too. You have come such a long way from where you started. 2020 will hold great things for you I am sure. Wonderful you have managed to knock £400 off the card at this time of year.
I watched the save well spend less money programme on catch up and was decidedly underwhelmed. I think they missed a real opportunity about giving suggestions on budgeting and really delving into the reasons for debt and real suggestions for getting out of it and they seemed to just offer a sticking plaster to the girl whose business had failed. Debt consolidation is not a solution but the message that business and personal finances should be kept separate was good. As for the couple buying the mums house I am not sure on that either but not enough detail to comment. One thing I would say is if that lady is going to do a PhD it is going to take more than a few years.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free Wannabe, Budgeting and Banking and Savings and Investment boards. That is the kindest thing to say. Thank you so much. I think being a single mum sometimes it makes you feel very alone, and having people like yourself to be able to bounce ideas off and get support from has been really comforting.
