MoneyWhizz ive just read through the article, that is really interesting and pin points exactly what both my mum and sister have said, bit of background, my mum is an author and trainer for the social services and the police dealing with youth issues (drugs/anti social behavior etc) and my sister is a Dr of Psychology so both have an understanding to say the least. My only concern is our love for him would blind us from seeing what others see, or maybe im now being too overly critical! Thank you again for the article, i think i may bring it in for reference in my meeting at the school tomorrow. My debt free journey, diary and all! New Life Pending :beer:0

Happy Hump Day All!
So today is the day i go into to see the teachers, thank you all for your support over the last couple of days, it felt really nice to be able to talk it through.
Money front everything is ok, bit tight but doable. Im edging closer and closer to my survey pay out, which will total £30, Shoppix which is £10 and i still have £75 pending to pay for 20 coggs. This will go off my card. I am also hoping to pay £340 from my next salary, which will bring the total debt £925 which will be amazing,
Im slightly wary about the leave and start date of my new job marrying up. For example, i will have a week where im not earning, i will also get a lower pay on my final salary from this job as i have to have some deductions. I also desperately need some new work suits. So basically, the start of the new year could be where this all loses a bit of control to be honest! Im also moving from a pay date of the 15th to the end of the month, and being rubbish at maths, its making me scared thinking that i wont have enough money to pay the bills!! I need to really sit and work through it as best i can - for anyone new to their journey, this is why everyone advises you to have an emergency fund!!!!
Im really looking forward to this weekend, im meeting up with a man on Friday for a drink (i suppose a sort of date) and then Saturday night im going to watch my brother fight and its a pretty big event. Im going with my dad so no doubt we will have a few drinks and a nice meal too (usually on him, bonus!). My son is staying with his dad this weekend so it will give me a chance to try and relax a little bit and de stress from the last week.
I will fill you all in tomorrow reference tonights meeting. Wish me luck!My debt free journey, diary and all! New Life Pending :beer:0 -
Hope the school meeting goes well tonight and some exciting plans for the weekend.
Re the money situation. You presumably have just one more payday in your current job - 15th December? Assuming you don't get paid early for Christmas. Then your first payday on the new job is end of January? I would do a cashflow with your bills and budgets for December and January and if necessary hold back a bit from paying down the debt for December and January. I know it may delay your DF date a bit but if things go better than expected or you have a frugal month in January you could overpay then?
On another matter. I am not sure if you were considering a HTB ISA but they are going by the end of this month I think it is so if you were going to use one you could open it with £1.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free Wannabe, Budgeting and Banking and Savings and Investment boards. So my leave date is actually 30th January, however ive put in a formal request to leave the first week of January meaning your dates above are right if they agree! I have thought about holding back the debt payment just to make sure, and i am planning a super frugal January just so i can start the year in the best possible way.
As for the HTB Isa, thank you for the thought, i actually opened one about a month ago after a prompt from our friend Martins email! as soon as this debt is finished, £200 per month will be going straight into there and then i will open another savings account for 1st Emergency Fund and then after that is complete, extra for the house savings!
On the house front, i was looking at the prices and schemes in my area and with a new build i will need at least £20,000 using the governments scheme, and about £35k/£40k if i dont go down that route. Isnt that just crazy amounts of money?!!! However, i do not want to be on my own away from my family so i dont have a lot of choice, it will just mean that when i finally do reach that goal it will feel amazing. My debt free journey, diary and all! Sounds like a good plan. It is crazy money but I can understand you not wanting to change area. We moved out of the London area more than 30 years ago to Cornwall where we knew no one but my children were tiny (aged 1 and 2) and I had my DH. Now it is home but I have to travel to London often to see my elderly mother and my brother and sister who have both had their own troubles so it is hard to leave family. My closest friends though are in Cornwall. You will soon get that house money saved up once the debt is gone and you can focus solely on savings. I personally think the housing market will be a bit static over the next few years due to Brexit so you might pick up a bargain over the next couple of years.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free Wannabe, Budgeting and Banking and Savings and Investment boards. New builds are often expensive by the way and not necessarily without problems so don't discard older houses. I think there is someone who has a diary on here who bought a new build and is having awful problems with substandard build quality.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free Wannabe, Budgeting and Banking and Savings and Investment boards. Cornwall is beautiful, I think if i was married i would think of moving away, starting a little business etc. However, whilst im alone with my son, my family play such a large part in my support network its not on my radar at the moment!
I think you might be right about the house prices. Im 33 in December, so my target is to of raised the money and moved in by 36. If i really push myself i think i could make that 35.My debt free journey, diary and all! New Life Pending :beer:0 -

Absolutely, the only reason i would specifically target new builds is just because of the better deals you seem to get on them. However, all of this is a long way off, £35k to save first :rotfl:My debt free journey, diary and all! New Life Pending :beer:0 -
Good Morning
So the meeting went well, the teachers seemed to genuinely have my sons best interests at heart which made the conversation a lot easier. They confirmed socially and educationally he has no issues, and is above where he needs to be for his age. However, the interrupting and concentration do seem to be getting worse and is becoming an issue for the whole class. I have agreed that i will take him to the doctors next week and we will go from there. I do not think there is much point speculating over possible diagnosis, we need a professional to asses and tell us so we know what steps to take. I have to say my stress levels at the moment are super high, so i need to make sure that i try and take some time out this weekend.
So, 2nd part of the show ' Save well, Spend Better'. I have to say, watching it i felt so angry at one point i considered complaining to ofcom lol. The actually promoted consolidation loans, and advised that if you need more credit, simply switch your credit card - no mention of the fact that if you need more credit, you should look at your budget first as there is obviously a gap somewhere. So in my midst of anger, at all the people following this advice and the shows pure irresponsibility, i did some research. A simple google search shows the show is actually co funded by Lloyds Bank!!!! So its basically an extended advert for their services, does not have the consumers best interests at heart at all.
15 days till payday, although as i'm with Monzo i can actually release the money a day before. This is a god send as it gives me a few hours to divvy up my budget to my pots and cross reference my budget spreadsheet to my account, before all my DD's come out. I have to admit, im counting down the days!My debt free journey, diary and all! New Life Pending :beer:0 -
