    Good Morning All

So good news, £25 made on ebay last night, got the two parcels to send off this morning. Money will go towards the budget fitting for the paypal debt, so that gap is nearly closed!

Budget until pay day is extremely tight!!! making me feel a little bit anxious if im honest but i know 100% i will not succumb and use a CC, even if i have to eat toast for the rest of the week!

I have the first interview for this new job tomorrow so going to spend some time researching the business and the director who is interviewing me today. I am praying that it is a good opportunity!

Toast is great though. I love toast.

I meant to say yesterday but I forgot, have you had a look at Jack Monroe's Bootstrap Cook https://cookingonabootstrap.com/ ? I'm not sure how helpful this will be right now at the lowest part of your budget but Jack has done Live below the Line a couple of times and there are loads of cheap recipe ideas. I wish this had existed when I was at my lowest.

Good luck for the interview :) xx
    Mortgage at 12/07/2022 = £175,000
    Mortgage today = £161,690.76
    300 271 payments to go.
    House buyout fund £21,000/£40,000

    Good luck for the interview!
    Debt as at 5 June 2023 - £15,600.89
    Current debt - £5,555.00
Total paid off - £10,045.89 (64% paid off)
  • Another one bites the dust.......

Good Morning you lovely people I hope you are all well.
well I am please to announce that another creditor has been paid off, in full, bye bye Paypal Credit!

Pots are filled back up and its lovely to know that I can have something other than hoops! However, it was so worth the frugal 3 weeks to get to this point. I am now down to just one creditor!!!

So a quick debt run down to start the new month!

On July 25th I had my light bulb moment, with a starting debt of £3568.32 and 5 creditors.
By September the 15th the debt was down to £2687.07, still with 5 creditor.
Today the debt stands at a grand total of £1722.92 with just one creditor (CC1)
Paying off a total so far of £1845.40 in 3 paydays!

So here's to the final push (and i suspect the hardest to keep the will power), however, that is not were my journey will end. Next stop is saving £30k for a deposit!!!!!! (dont do anything by halves lol)

Thanks for all your support this month, my advisers have done me well as always xx

Oh my goodness. When you do something you don't do it by halves do you? Full focus and determination. Well done. When you look at what you have achieved in 3 months I am sure that 2020 holds great things for you. Keep on the way you have been going to get rid of that last credit card then all your money will be yours to do what you will with it.

  • Thank you Enthusiastic Saver, its people like you that have enabled this progress. If you knew half of what i was like with money only 3 months ago you would be shocked. I wouldn't blink on spending £200 on clothes on a credit card to hang in the wardrobe and never be worn. To go out at the weekend for dinner and drinks and put £150 on a credit card and not even blink. I honestly had no idea what i was doing, my only saving grace is I luckily had my light bulb moment before it got completely out of control. You and others have helped me completely re educate myself on money, on budgeting and now giving myself a fighting chance of having a secure financial future. I cant thank you enough as cheesy as it sounds!

Ive also found by digging myself out of this mess, £1 by £1 ive actually taught myself never to do it again. I think if i had gone to my family for a bail out, i would be doing it again by next year. This is the best possible outcome, however, hard it is. So much so, ive actually asked for a book on teaching finances to children for Christmas so i can insure my son grows up understanding money and how to handle it correctly.

  • Amazing progress!

I too am trying to teach my son (he's 5) about money, making sure he knows it doesn't grow on trees etc. I often tell him he can have a treat from the shop this time, but only x amount's worth because we have to save money so we can buy our own house. We've also started giving him pocket money every week (£2), and have stopped buying him toys outside of xmas/birthdays - he has to buy these with his own money. He's been quite good with saving up for 4-5 weeks at a time so he can get himself something decent, and he'll sometimes pick a cheap sweetie in a shop so he can take the rest of the money home to save towards a toy. :) Definitely things I never learned as a child!
  • There was one occasion where he wanted to go to the Disney shop to see how much things were and he was very annoyed that everything was at least £20 haha! (We didn't buy anything) He said he'd rather go to the charity shop where he can buy himself a toy for a pound or two. Good life lesson right there! ;)
Last time we went to the charity shop, he bought a fancy knight's shield for 50p and said "I can't believe someone gave this away - it's so great!". Bless him.
  • Thats so good Moguline! Ive been guilty in the past of over indulging my son because i had no value on things, definitely something i am changing.

  • It's so hard isn't it! It's so tempting to just get them what they want as it makes them happy in the moment - but I have found that often, he'll just discard/forget about these spur-of-the-moment purchases after a day or two, so it's not really worth it anyway!
