Change of plan: I pegged out the 'new' sheets, fed the birds, refilled the birdbath and the shallow dish put out for passing wildlife, put NN's emptied bin in their yard - they're on holiday, brought in my emptied bin, set WM swishing and decided that, as it is so hot already , I wouldn't wait for cs to open at 8.30 before going to town....
… so, I've been and picked up my prescription, and called at Mr C00p on the way back. Saw my Dad in the car park - nagged him to keep hydrated. The books can wait in the boot for another day!
And I must be a horse! There's no glowing or perspiring going on here! Definitely sweating

I have
- spent an hour in the shady back garden, where it was lovely and cool
- watered the sweet peas, beans, tomatoes, raspberries and flower pots (all down by the roots, not the foliage)
- found about a dozen oak seedlings growing in the flowerpots - Rosie doesn't appear to be doing her squirrel patrol frequently enough!
- tied up the stragglers
- made yogurt
- S&S'd the kitchen
- prepared the snacks and most of the craft items ready for the Toddlers and their KS1 siblings
Now to tackle the rest of the craft items and the desk work :cool:0 -

Morning all
I’m late in but I have already done nearly 4 hours of paid stuff, one advantage of working from home is that my hours can be flexible so I decided today to start early and try to beat the heat in the office!
So now is lunch time of sorts, the downstairs is cool so I quickly hoovered, put dishes away, wiped kitchen, emptied bins and refreshed litter tray, wash is done and on the line, the cats are flaked in their chosen spots. I watered the shady back garden this morning at 6am, it was lovely at that time!
Supper will be salad again, DH said he’s not bored of it yet! If it cools down tomorrow I may actually cook something tomorrow evening!
I am just going to refill my water bottle to take upstairs to the office.
Have a good day all x0 -
Morning All
Well the school holidays are here so I am back and my house is like a pig sty! I've been to the caravan for the last few days and I'm going again a week on Sunday for 2 weeks so that'll be nearly 3 weeks of my holidays gone.
So far today, I've done 2 loads of washing and I'm just about to put a 3rd in. I'm thinking I may try and do a bit of decluttering that I can do while I'm sitting down. Although currently the kitchen is fairly cool as the sun will move around there shortly so I could do a few jobs in there.

I think I'll join you and put a 3rd load in WM - one of those flannelette sheets plus a few other light coloured items.

I've pegged out washing, made numerous phone calls on DD's behalf and formulated a plan to deal with her new (to her) car having gone kaput.
I've done some mending - for home and for work and some ironing.Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

The gauges are reading 32 and 34.8 degrees.
I have;
Swept the living room, hall, kitchen and downstairs bathroom.
Given both felines a quick wipeover with a damp flannel, concentrating on paws, faces, ears and tummies. Neither attempted to kill me for this.
Sworn profusely at the crappest online qualification in the world - you know all the stuff about making education accessible? Well this place has provided two huge booklets of incredibly boring blocks of pure text on yellow (some of it is white on yellow, !!!!!!) and each online question to test knowledge asks to to essentially regurgitate the text or you fail it. It's been written by committee and of people who haven't actually ever done the jobs they're pretending to teach about. And if you fail it, it goes from being free to costing over a hundred and twenty quid. I bet that's where they make the money - from people who either can't manage the rubbish materials or who decide it's not worth another GCSE equivalent qualification to continue. I've got ten questions left and once I've got the wretched pass mark, I am going to absolutely rip into how utterly awful their teaching materials are and how when part of the test is about considering accessibility, why had they never considered using something that could be read by screen readers if a picture or two is so impossible for them.
Himself has mopped the showerroom floor, felines are splodged out and I've had a shower and been bone dry/sweating again within ten minutes.

Thanks. Things have moved on fast; yesterday we had a meeting with MIL and the manager of the proposed new care home. Today he rang to say she could move in on Wed next week; not the downstairs room we'd hoped for as all are full, but on the 1st floor. Of course there is a lift, and all facilities dining room sitting room etc are repeated on each floor so it's not as if she has to keep going up and down; we just felt that downstairs was closer to get out into the garden. Only a small point and they said if a downstairs room becomes available, she could change.
I think it got to about 31 degrees yesterday so all I did apart from the meeting was go to aqua aerobics (best place to be) then later I did some weeding and watering.
Today is even hotter but so far:
- hand washed a dress
-1 load through WM
- watered greenhouse
- Went to MIL's flat and began clearance. I listed everything we know we want to put in her new room, listed things to find out like is there a clock or mirror in the new room then I made a to-do list ranging from notifying phone and electricity companies to letting friends/family know her new address. Mr N sorted out 2 threatening letters from housing saying she had refused access to service the boiler; turns out service company had given Mr N a copy of the service but failed to send it to housing. We emptied most of the food cupboard; will take tins etc to church on Sun to put in the food bank box as Mr N feels awkward about us just ransacking and eating it all. However, we have emptied the freezer and put it in our house.
Mr N rang up hospital services to arrange for bed, table and various other appliances to be collected.
I sorted out various medication - stuff we could use, stuff she still uses and the rest to go to the pharmacy for disposal.
Mr N spoke to his brother to keep him up to date. Hopefully the brothers can sort out some of the many boxes of photos, letters, cards etc as it is quite emotional and I think they could make her a scrapbook of it all.
Other than that, I've mainly gone from room to room at home trying to find the coolest - none of them really. However I've had the blind down and the windows open in my study for the last 2 days so I think I will spend time culling emails, working my way down 'emails to-do list' and filing the last term's reports. Slowly and with a bottle of water by my side.
Keep cool everyone.Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.0
