  • I assume your hubby can afford to pay a lot more, I had been giving my ex 700 now 400 out of my 1500 salary it was, is, a fair chunk, I have to live too.

lol i think I am being stroked then !!I give my ex-wife 400 squid a month now, was 700 for last 4 years for my 2 boys, I also pay for clothes, trips, toys etc, I also have them with me on monday , wednesday nights and every other weekend.Me thinks I should get some back pay from her listening to you people. And no I dont earn lots of money I come out with 1500 a month and have my own mortgage now to pay.

It's a shame that not all fathers are as good to their kids like you are to your's.

Vik tbh if you could both come to a good compromise it would be so much better, i appreciate you don't know his income but...since you are both on talking terms i think you both need to sit down and discuss it openly.

College/FE lecturers around here get anything upwards of £15 per hour. But most of them like your child's father do not work full time.

Vik, i think that providing you are happy with the amount you have arranged then i think thats fair enough!
Wont feel so bad if little one needs something expensive and you have to ask for a little 'help' nown again.
(my ds is nearly 10 and his social life is busier than mine :D !) I think he costs us more in actitivities/social life than food n clothes  hehe............

Anyway glad you are happier with your new arrangement.

  • I used to get £200 for es and £125 for ms. (different dads) es turned 17 - no maintenance so now the £125 has to do for both.

I ve always managed I supposed you always do no choice really. Both dads have been really fair and always helped out with extras like uniform coats school trips etc. so Ive no complaints really.

like previously said as long as you are happy and can manage £35 is fine.

That is not very much money, I think someone said the ex partner should be paying something like 12 - 15% of their income. I know you don't want to be money grasping but on the otherhand you don't want to deprive your child of a comfortable standard of living.
There are too many families living in poverty (I'm not suggesting you are) because ex partners won't pay the minimum set by the CSA.
I have always made sure I get all the maintenance I am entitled to for my children from my ex partner. I roughly knew what he was earning and did the CSA calculation.

To pay £35 per week he should be earning about £250 net per week, which is well below the average salary.

bluenose1 of course someone getting £35 per week could also mean that the father has more kids with different women ;) i know this isn't the case with vik but it does happen.

£35.00 is not a lot i have just had my child support cut to £39 per week with the father seeking to reduce it further, apparently he has high contact costs to visit his other son...shame he never bothered to have any contact with my son.
