Morning! :hello:
Happy Birthday Hester !!
Congratulations Hillstep!
Snowy...Shez has been around (so to speak) and Pink is just busy with the family and has another rotten cold so (((hugs))) to her.
Aussie.....I'm so glad your relish turned out well. Nice to see you remain as modest as ever.
Anniebooklover...Hope you feel better soon.
Anniestar....hope you're having a better day.
I'm hoping to have a busy day getting ready for the oldies coming tommorrow.
I need to make a fish pie, red pepper and tomato soup, chicken liver pate, yoghurt, banana bread and muffins. Tea will be baked potatoes with Chilli from the freezer. Have had to make room in the freezer so I also have redcurrents defrosting and will turn them into jelly and if there is time I will get my poached spiced pears done for Christmas.
Other than that it will just be the usual housework, homework and happiness that the afternoons bring.
Have a good day everyone.

Morning all:wave:
Just a quick one this morning as my joints are really playing up today, so I'm trying to move ever so slowly to avoid pain:sad:
Still no sign of the mouse in any of the traps. What do others put on theirs to tempt the little . If I hadn't actually seen it, I wouldn't have known we had any of the
Mom and Dad are coming over with a few basic supplies - milk, bread etc, and mom will help prepare dinner so I wont have to rely on the girls too much. They are good when I have a flare up though, despite their age.:starmod: :staradmin :starmod:_party_ HAPPY BIRTHDAY HESTER _party_Fingers crossed on the new arrival hilstep2000. July seems like an age away but it will be here before you know it.
I will try and pop back later. Hope everyone has a great day and :grouphug: hugs :grouphug: to all that need them.

Good morning everyone,
I wished I'd watch Celebrity after hearing the comments on here. What with power cuts and power struggles over the remote, I've missed most of it.
DS1 emailed me from work yesterday afternoon to say that a call had come in to security from a tutor to say two students were having a dispute and one had got out a stanley knife. This is a childcare course. It confirms my opinion that girls are worse. DS1 said she was escorted down and watched over by security and 2 members of staff until someone came to collect her and naturally she is now permanently excluded from the college.
Frankly if I'd been the other girls parents I'd have been demanded to know why the police weren't called. Apparently she maintains that she didn't lift the knife to the other student, she merely wanted her to know she had it.I shall be so glad when DS finished working there next month! He can't wait to start working with his dad.
Going to make another cup of coffee and some toast and then write a long list of what I want to get done today - I might even manage to do a couple of them, too. :rolleyes:MAY GROCERY CHALLENGE £0/ £250

HAPPY BIRTHDAY HESTER:bdaycake: and so sorry about Thumper and Ogden. That lodger of yours - how do you stand it and when are you going to write the book, and, maybe, the screenplay and the film adaptation?
PAM - thinking about you. (((hugs)))
HILSTEP - congratulations! You'll LOVE being a grandmother! I do - I have a DGS (7) and a DGD (4) and they have bought untold joy and pleasure into my life; I love them SO much I can hardly describe it.
PIPKIN - chocolate is the best thing to tempt a mouse, apparently, they can't resist it.
Well, page 2 already - shows how late I am getting on here. Bad night's sleep which resulted in oversleeping. Like AMIE, I keep thinking about Christmas! Luckily, DH didn't need to leave until 9 o'clock - he's in Yeovil today helping a friend (who is wheelchair-bound) do some work on his kitchen. I have stew in the SC so it can cook itself because I have a lot of running about today. DS2's car is being serviced today so he needs a lift back to his house from the garage at about 4.15 which means I'll hit the rush hour traffic both ways. At least, if I get held up, dinner will be ready when I get back!
I have to clear up the mess that prepping the stew has made, then go to the gym, then do some shopping, then come back and type up DH's invoices, then try and get some more wrapping up done. Something tells me I won't get it all done!
At least the weather is good today. The sun is shining and the sky is blue and, so far, no sign of rain.
Well, I'd better go, I suppose, and make the dumplings. Hope everyone has a great day and many (((Hugs))) for all who are still poorly.
Haven't seen DANNAHAZ post on here lately. Hope she's OK.
See y'all.

Pipkin - sorry that you're in so much pain, you poor ole soul.
My SIL was having the same problem with catching a mouse. Traps were empty but no mouse. How she caught hers was she melted a bit of mars bar (only slightly) and then she put a tiny piece of bread crust with peanut butter onto the melted dip (if u see what I mean) and so when it cooled it sealed the crust to the chocolate. When the mouse tried to drag the bread out it had to tug harder and the trap went off with mouse in it.
It seems that mice are experts at sneaking the food out without catching themselves in it but she said that she got this tip passed onto her and it worked the first night. You never know, could give it a try.MAY GROCERY CHALLENGE £0/ £250

Morning all.
DH finished painting the living room yesterday, so it all looks much better. Have gone cream. (It was purple, blue and cream before! like living in a bag of sugared almonds)
Am at w**k today - normally Wednesday is my day off but I want to go Christmas shopping on Friday so I swapped it. I've got a cool boss up here who lets me swap my days around to my hearts content.
Tea tonight will be pie and peas as we are off to a quiz night. My companies' social club are holding it, in aid of Children in Need. Should be a good night. Have put a team of 5 together, all with different specialities, so hopefully we'll do ok!
I don't know who on here lives in my area, but Leeds has a German market on until mid December, and the York Christmas markets are gearing up now too. Excellent days out, even if you only 'window' shop.
Have a good Wednesday all, Happy Birthday Hester, and hugs to all who want and/or need them.

:hello:
Can i join in please?
I've been lurking for a long time and occasionally post but really wanna get in on the OS action lol
I bought myself a slow cooker last week, have amde a home made, west indian style curry and am doing beef bouringion(sp?) today, although i'm using packet mix not fully from scratch
A bit about me:
I'm 23, single muvvato a 3.5 year old gorgeous son who is currently poorly with a throat infection bless him.
I work part time as a homecare worker but have been off sick for the last couple of months as i had a car accident and have done me back in.
So now i'm looking for a new job which is less physically demanding.
I love cooking from scratch but get stuck for ideas, and do budget when i go shopping, i spend £30pw max and we never go hungry, saying that though my son has breakfast and lunch at nursery 4 days a week so that probably cuts costs down.
So hello to everyone, and my special friend pipkin :A:j Baby boy Number 2, arrived 12th April 2009!:j0 -
Welcome aboard, astonsmummy!
Happy birthday, Hester.
Washing machine and tumble dryer both on as am helping friend with a broken washing machine. Going to try to make chips for the first time later. (I don't like chips but DH does so I'll give it a go...)
Dreading the grocery shop later. Can't get the bill down enough at the moment. All my staples have shot up in price, just like most of us are going through at the moment.
Been out to toys r us to look at gifts for Christmas. Won't be buying from them as they won't let you in if you have a bag with you but it's good to get an idea how big things are etc when I'm ordering from the net later.
Hugs to the people who aren't around at the moment. I hope you're taking care of yourselves. xMay all your dots fall silently to the ground.0
