  • Good evening everyone.
    Had a pretty rested day.
Board games , colouring , movies , video calls with family, kids playing in the garden.

Today I was tempted to buy a new phone case. (Recently took mine off because the magnetic bit had broke off). Then I realised other than that there is nothing wrong with it it's still more than useable. I'm trying to learn to live with less and spend less (frugal minamilist in the making) ;) and buying another phone case when the one I have is still usable is non of these.
    Anyway. Didnt buy one...

Shower and early night for me ...

    Have a good evening everyone

Well done on resisting temptation!

  • Hello my beautiful diary friends,
As always I hope you are all well..

    It's really hot here today.

    No spend day today.
Yesterday we brought bacci. I was going to start trying to use my vape more but it's leaking .. it's not very old as I replaced it a few months ago. DP is going to have a look at it for me.

Tobacco was our only spend yesterday.

Been cleaning this morning. I swapped shifts with a girl at work so I have today off.

    Nothing else really to report.

I have looked at our finances and it looks like we could be completely debt free again by the end of 2022 (apart from our payment plan we have with our old housing association)   That includes the time we spend to save for a car.

Once we have all the debt apart from the payment plan paid off I'll find out our balance with them and aim to pay it off in 6 months. So we will be completely debt free apart from the mortgage before December 2023 .

I need to find the letter from our housing association to work out our current balance.

I also have a few direct debits I'm going to cancel.

We paid for dinsey plus for the year, we have enjoyed it and watched it alot but I don't think I will renew it after the 12 months.

We also have Netflix again as a family we use this alot. But I am thinking of canceling it after this winter.

And amazon prime. We use both the TV and delivery service . Being located where we are most places are around a week delivery so this is handy when we need something quickly. And i tend to order alot of gifts off here throughout the year.

I have canceled my Tesco clubcard plus. It did save us money as we would get more off our shopping than the monthly cost but I plan to shop at Aldi from now on so it won't be used.

And our national trust membership I feel bad about this one as alot of people wouldn't use it during lockdown but we haven't used it since moved due to where we are located everything is quite far away so it hasn't been used. I may look at getting a lifetime pass in the next few years as we are quite young still so over the years we would get our moneys worth.

Basically I'm going to spend a whole day looking through our outgoings / budget see what can be stopped without feeling like we are deprived. Any extra money In the budget will go towards the car.

Anyway have a good day everyone. Enjoy the sunshine.

Love hugs and positivity to you all

Sounds like a good plan focusing on what works for you as a family now rather than what has served you in the past. The lifetime passes sound like a great idea, maybe you could ask family to give you some money towards them for Christmas/birthdays rather than more "stuff"?
    Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)
Cleared 🧚‍♀️🧚‍♀️🧚‍♀️!!! In 5 years, 1 month and 29 days
Total amount repaid: £72,307.03. £1.10 repaid for every £1.00 borrowed

Finally earning interest instead of paying it!!!
  • Hello  my beautiful diary friends,
I hope you are all well.

Thank you south_coast yes things change and so does life I'm not going to waste money on things that no longer serve us 🙂

we could definitely ask family we did this before to pay for an annual one a few years ago. Definitely something to consider.

Had work today. Saw some family this afternoon which was nice. We were going to get a takeaway tonight. (a rare treat) but decided against it. I haven't budgeted for it and I'm not going to let impulse ruin my plans.
But that doesn't mean we can't have treats. I have a few things planned got the kids over the next few weeks before they go back to school. All low or no spend 😁

We have everything ready for school (uniform etc) so that's sorted.

This month should be a relatively low spend month to be honest. I just hope we stick to it. So far so good. 😁

    Have a nice evening everyone.

Love hugs prayers and positivity to you all x

  • Hello my beautiful diary friends,
    Hope you are all well.
Last night I did fakeaway for dinner using stuff we had at home.
Today will be a spend day but only milk.
Tomorrow I'm having my hair trimmed for the first time since Feb. I've budgeted for this.

    Work this afternoon.
I've requested a phone call from the gp as I'm having issues with my left ankle.

Nothing to really update on otherwise. Just wanted to post to keep myself accountable.

Oh I've had  a look online and there is a fee cars that will be in our price range of we manage to save what I think we will be able to. They aren't as big as I hoped but should see us through a few years .. also now I have changed jobs my yearly millage is half to what it was when we first moved here. I'm hoping we can get a decent runner and. We will keep it until its no longer road worthy.
We will create a car fund once we have brought a car to save for the next car and car expenses.  I'm hoping when the car will eventually need to be changed we will have some money left over to make a decent mortgage overpayment by that point we should be nearing the end of our mortgage journey.

    My plan at the moment.

Be debt free AGAIN apart from mortgage by dec 2023
By a car in cash July 2021
    Mortgage free by june 2032

It feels like so long away but from previous experience I know all the sacrifice is worth it in the long run.

Our fixed deal ends June next year and I'm hoping to reapply for another fixed rate (hopefully a better rate) I may apply for less of a term than we have left at the moment. But whatever we decide I'll continue to make regular overpayments to bring our monthly payments upto £500 a month.

Love hugs and positivity to you all
