Vegetarians and Vegans also have lower BMI, on average, than other dietary types, with associated health outcomes.

What total and utter selective tripe.

The country with the highest percentage of vegetarians (45%?) is India. With the rubbish your spouting you’d assume that they’d be super heathy compared to say the non-vegetarian Japanese. The thing is though that cardio vascular disease is 6 times higher in Vegetarian India than it is in meat eating Japan. Life expectancy in vegetarian India is 68, yet in meat eating Japan its 84. Cancer rates are also lower in meat eating Japan than India admittedly Indian rates are pretty low.

So the point is eating meat and fish is fine in fact it contributes to a healthy diet. OVEREATING meat is the problem NOT meat in of itself.

As for your meat is ruining the planet more selective BS!

Myth of the Indian vegetarian nation.

Also, Indians have higher rates of heart diseases to start with.

    They don’t?
    Why is that then?
Seems to be a hell of a lot of generalisation in this thread .

There’s loads about it on this prominent page on the vegan society website, so it doesn’t seem like they’re avoiding the subject:

Quoted from a cited academic study. Please debate politely and maturely, backing up your counter-claims with evidence.
    With the rubbish your spouting
Please debate politely and maturely, and cited evidence is more credible than ranting.
Life expectancy in vegetarian India is 68, yet in meat eating Japan its 84.
You cannot seriously be comparing a developing country with one of the most developed in the world, looking solely at life expectancy and making generalisations about diet to reach your conclusions?
OVEREATING meat is the problem NOT meat in of itself.
Agreed, diets with low amounts of meat and fish are perfectly healthy.

Please debate politely and maturely, and please cite some credible counter evidence to the cited articles?

Good you’ve admitted you are intolerant .
    Are humans tasty too?

Where have I stated that I'M intolerant?

Apparently tastes like pork, hence the cannibal name of "Long pig."

If they are true friends then you don't mind putting some effort into making a meal that they will enjoy, veggie/vegan or otherwise.

I've got a couple of Italian friends coming over next month and one of them can't manage wheat (a bit of a pain for an Italian) so I've got the stocks of spelt (farro) in and have even started a sour dough culture. She'll be able to have one of my wood-fired pizzas, no problem, and a great example of the phrase 'coals to Newcastle'! It'll be fun, and the loaves I've already made from my new sour dough are really tasty.

I'm sure some vegetarians are a bit militant and hyper-vigilant, based on a few newspaper below-the-line comments, but the ones I've known aren't and I'm happy to make an effort to accommodate them. I also avoid other known issues, as above, and my mum long ago gave up cooking sprouts for me.

It's just a question of being grown up when it matters to others.

Here’s a quote from The Vegan Society on B12
“If for any reason you choose not to use fortified foods or supplements you should recognize that you are carrying out a dangerous experiment”

Taking the Vegan Society’s advice to its logical conclusion you could replace all vitamins, minerals, amino acids etc in a diet with a pill..... but you can’t.

    Veganism isn’t a diet it’s a rich westerners 1st world cult.

I can feel you squirming from here!

The narrative that egan cultists and vegetarians like to spout about meat being unhealthy is based on the western diet which every right minded person agrees leads to the over consumption of meat and the attendant health problems.

Meat/dairy ISN’T the issue as when you look at the healthiest polulations on the planet not one of them are following a vegetarian diet let alone a vegan cultist one.
