It’s a good choice, not an opportunity to lecture everyone on what they should be eating
I knew someone who could bore for Britain about meat and how great he thought he was for killing animals and handling their corpses.0 -
I'm not veggie/vegan but I do find some veggie/vegan meals very tasty and happily cook them for myself as well as for other people.
If someone vegan started lecturing me though about my food choices and banging on about how eggs are really just chicken periods (yep, heard that one more than once) then I'd consider that incredibly rude in a guest. Then again none of my true friends, regardless of dietary preference, would be so impolite. And I don't give a toss what the rest think. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -

Personally I almost never randomly run into a vegan. There was one at work in another building, that was the only one aside from a runner in a half marathon (who I didn't talk to).
Yet so many folk seem to be regularly engaging with multiple vegans who all incessantly talk about veganism.
Statistically, it seems rather improbable.
Media outlets, especially the BBC, have been heavily reporting on veganism, but that is very different from vegans "insisting on telling everyone with a set of eardrums about it."0 -
I have been accused of 'banging on about veganism' because someone asked why I drink my coffee black, and I replied 'I try to avoid dairy'. They pressed me on whether that was an allergy or lifestyle choice, so I said it was for mostly ethical and environmental reasons. Cue a half hour rant about how you can't meet a vegan without them telling you within 30 seconds etc etc. I'm not even vegan.0

If you're vegetarian (or vegan) then the topic will come up soon enough at work.
Why aren't you eating the cakes? (And the above example about no milk in the coffee, or using almond milk, people chat, and ask).
My kids wanted to go vegetarian this year so I joined them, they are back on the meat but I have continued.
It's odd just how much it annoys some people though. I've certainly met more "I have to have meat with every meal. MEAT MEAT MEAT." people in my lifetime than pious vegans. As of 24/11/2020

You produce, name and display your veggie/vegan food in a manner that is designed to "trick" meat eaters into buying your product.
Your interpretation does seem a wee bit paranoid. Perhaps they want to attract new customers by offering food that is a lot like meat products but without the issues?0 -
Some harsh replies to the Op imo.
I think the eating out option is definitely the way to go in this scenario.
That way everyone has the chance to eat what they chose to consume rather than what someone has or hasn’t prepared depending on their views or morals or whatever.
My mum is gluten and dairy intolerant. When we go to hers, she will cater for our “normal” requirements alongside hers and we do the same when she comes to ours.
It’s not just about respecting others but also about them respecting you - it should be two way not just one way0 -

what an odd thing to say to someone you dont know or even have any real knowledge of.
I bet there are things that you do or want to vent about, this just happens to be a subject that for one reason or another has raised itself with me the last few days
Sounds more like I hit a few raw nerves to be honest0 -

I decided it would be easier for the family, if all the dried/tinned goods were suitable for vegetarians then anyone in the family could eat them. So I did things like replace the tinned soups with vegetable varieties. Then I bought onion gravy granules, which was met with protests from both husband and son about 'how they didn't like it'. Funny that because when we'd previously had it in, when the whole household ate meat no-one had complained. That's when I discovered Bisto (gravy granules) the original one is vegetarian.
Son then went to Uni last September and before long he was buying things like quorn mince because he found it easier and often cheaper.0 -

Onion gravy granules is the only acceptable gravy granules.
I would prefer a cup of that over tea/coffee any day!
Aldi do a nice one! (IIRC).
You've actually made me crave it now!
But really people just have whatever you and the people you are catering for like.0
