In fact putting animal products into these shapes is a way to dissociate them from their original product. That is why they sell soo well as the person can ignore they are indeed part of an animal.
So you think the majority of meat eaters are in a bit of denial and ignore the fact what they are eating came from animals :rotfl:
I really don't think that is the case at all and i think most meat eaters do not care they are eating an animal because obviously they would stop if that was the case and would become vegetarian/vegan.
The reason they sell so well is because they are convenient and already in a form ready to cook and eat with little preparation. I get my meat from the butcher and make my own chicken nuggets, meatballs etc. When i have talked to other people they like the idea of doing it but don't simply because it takes longer.0 -
What amazes me these days is when i talk about when i used to do hunting and fishing to other omnivores you can see people turning chalk white when talking about gutting the animals and preparing them to eat.
I've often asked them if they would still eat meat if they had to kill the animal and gut it themself and the vast majority of people (especially younger) say no despite eating meat daily.
It's sad days when eating meat has became so convenient people have disassociated what needs to be done before it arrives in that package in Asda or whatever. All your base are belong to us.0 -

Norman_Castle wrote: »I stopped eating meat after buying raw meat and recognising it as part of an animals corpse. Before that pies, burgers, sausages etc were just pies, burgers or sausages. I knew they were meat but never really made the link. As you say, most meat eaters don't care [or think], its just food.
How old are you Norman? I ask as man in his mid 40's I remember pigs and sheep in the windows of my butchers when I was a child so I have always known when my meat came from (also remember the (at least hearing about if not seeing) the "you've seen the film now eat the cast" after watership down0 -

And sawdust on the floor to soak up the blood dripping from the carcass.
Many of today's generation have never been on a modern butchers shop, never mind one years ago.
Meat comes in neat little packages sealed in film.0 -

I occasionally now go into butchers to get food for a friends dog. It doesn't really bother me although they can have an unpleasant smell.0 -
Tried to do the vegetarian thing but I found the choices were just too limiting, and tried the Quorn but it tasted like cardboard. I think if there were more options, I'd happily switch to vegetarian.
I'm a meat eater but I don't get any enjoyment of opening the packaging of the dead chicken before putting it in the oven though. Ignorance is bliss sometimes.
I do think we'll get to a point when it'll become taboo to eat meat, much like smoking is now.0 -
I made a vegan carrot salad for lunch today from smoked salmon..... delicious!
Before I get any disapproving replies they were both orange coloured hence my right to call it carrot.0 -
If I went somewhere for a meal, i'd expect something everyone could eat. If people come to mine for a meal, it again, will be something everyone can eat.
Meat eaters can eat other things, Vegans can't eat meat without causing immense suffering to the planet, the animals & also, to some extent, their health.
Not sure why you have such an issue with Vegans, we simply don't agree with paying for the supply of animal products which increases demand for them. We are the true animal lovers, who think exploiting them for entertainment, clothing, cosmetics and food is wrong *when we don't need to do so*.
People should all see the truth about how the animals they eat live, especially dairy/eggs0 -
