Barclays Switch offer 1st July-30th November 2019

I do all my banking online but don't use any banking apps. Looks like I'll need to download the Barclays one though in order to simplify the switches in October when our current double rewards end.
As I'll be doing this for my wife's account as well as mine, does the app allow multiple users to use it on the same device?
No. But after you download and register and use the app to start the switch, just uninstall it.
And a little while afterwards - days if you want to be cautious but actually minutes would probably do, download it again, and register your wife's account, and start a switch.
You only need the app to set the switch up. You don't need to keep using it.0 -
Assuming of course that you both have the same telephone number as I believe the app checks the telephone number of the phone it is installing on not 100% sure but just from memory and it's been awhile since I installed it0

If this in ref to my suggestion - for the person who wanted to use the app for two accounts - of uninstalling after using for one account and re-installing for another later I don't think the phone number matters at all.
I installed only a few days ago - but not on the phone number Barclays have for me. So it doesn't seem to matter if the phone isn't the phone registered for your account in internet banking.
The app did verify itself by sending a text to the phone it was being installed on. But that was just a security measure for installation I assume.
I can't see why it would rule out, after uninstalling completely, re-installing on the same phone but with a different Barclays account.
Might be wrong, but seems to me it should work. And what's to lose?0 -
I've just been to my local branch and apparently completed the application to switch as an existing customer ….. from Tesco to my existing Barclay current account. They used my existing Debit Card as I.D. … didn't need any other form of I.D.
I'm already paying in £800 and have 2 active DD's on the Barclay CA and I'm registered for Blue Rewards as I have until last month been receiving the old Double Rewards by switching a year ago. Let's see if Double Rewards start appearing again in August!
Not seen any one mention it yet but it appears that you can now apply for this latest switch offer ONLINE, even if you are an existing customer. I could swear this morning that there was only the option to use the app or visit the branch if you are an existing customer … but looking now I see an ONLINE option!0 -
i think if sends the verification text to the number registered for the account.0

I don't see the online option to switch for existing customers!0 -
No experience with Barclays personally, but most other banking apps in my experience will require you to verify the app with a OTP sent to your registered number the first time you login the app. There is no requirement to have the app on the device which carries this number, just that you verify it before you use it - this allows you to have the app on any/multiple device(s) if you wish. After that you just need your login credentials to sign into the app. Most apps will only let you authorise one set of login credentials per device, although if you uninstall/reset the app you can change credentials (requiring OTP verification again). Alternatively there are apps that allow some apps to be duplicated by running them in a virtual session of your devices OS (eg. Parallel Space for Android) that may get around this problem as well.0

I don't see the online option to switch for existing customers!
Again, no experience with Barclays but someone mentioned that this is available for existing customers to do via the Barclays app - there was a post about it somewhere which I'll link if I can find it, but it was slightly hidden under "Offers" or something to that effect.
EDIT:Switching via the app for existing account holders as you need to have an account to register the app and use it.
Go into the app, click 'products' and then 'current account offers'. Fill in the donor account details. You will switch into your existing Barclays account.
Switched via the app got a text next day confirming switch underway
PS you switch into your existing current account that has already got blue rewards active. No need to open a second Barclays account0 -
Apologies … I saw it on the page below, but it seems that is to open a 2nd account (even though they put lots of pre-amble about Double Reward switching immediately above!)
I'm easily confused!

i think if sends the verification text to the number registered for the account.
Er, no.
As I said in my post - the app sends a text to the phone it's being installed on. I did this only a couple of days ago.
And, as I said in my post, the phone I installed the app on is not the phone registered to the account.
Edit: And, just to further clarify, if further clarification is needed, I've just looked up 'Your Phone Numbers' in the App. It allows four, described as:Number linked to this app
Home
Work
Mobile
They are all different numbers (they could be the same if I chose, but they're not). The number linked to the app is therefore merely that, the number linked to the app. It has no tie to the account (account texts come to my mobile - which isn't my smartphone!), other than being the home of the app. So, to reiterate, if you uninstall and reinstall on the same phone with a different account it should not matter.0
