  • I spoke to an advisor on the phone who stressed it must be my primary account that I am switching into Barclays, not sure how they police that but I use all my accounts in a similar way, only one receives my wages and it's not the one I am switching !
Hoping this won't be an issue.

no dd required on donor account. to get rewards you need just to pay in 800 a month. 2dd on the barclays account will get you £7 a month doubled to £14 for a year

    Less the £4 monthly fee.

So for the £10 per month it's worth the effort if the rewards are doubled for 12 months.

In the app there is a handy little tool that tells you how much you’ve paid I to your account (as well as paid out). In 4 months I’ve paid in 16k (just by transferring money to meet min pay in for rewards etc). Does anyone know they if I transfer in and out 75k worth of money I am eligible for premier banking, or does it have to be salary only?

Everytime I click on products. The Barclays automatically closes down. Anyone else having the same problem?

No problem a few minutes ago.

Just switched a spare Santander (!) account in via the App.

    Bit confused by this one...
I already have a Barclays Blue Reward on which I have received a full year's double rewards

So is this correct for me to get it again?
    Download the Barclays app .
    Switch in my dummy account.
The dummy account does not need to have any direct debits on it, and the existing direct debits on the existing barclays account will qualify for the double rewards

Many thanks if someone who's done this could confirm . I'm sure it will help others too

All that you say is correct.

Is the barclays app easily installed? I read something about needing a card reader to fully validate it!
I don't have a compatible device to install the app but i could possibly borrow one, download the app, request the switch and then delete/cancel the app.
I would just go to a branch if there was one within a reasonable distance, but unfortunately not.

you can download/use the app without a card reader (PINsentry)
    From Barclays website:-

    """
    Step 1

    Open the app
Create a 5-digit code and enter it, and then re-enter it
Enter your mobile number, account details and your name
    Tap ‘Continue’
    Step 2

You’ll receive a text message from us that includes a 6-digit passcode – tap this into the app
    Step 3

Tap ‘Use PINsentry’ and enter the last 4 digits from the long number on your debit card
Slide your debit card into the PINsentry card reader and press the ‘Respond’ key. Type in your PIN and press ‘Enter’
The card reader will display an 8-digit code – enter this into the app and tap ‘Verify’
Don’t have a PINsentry card reader? Register using just your debit card and you’ll still have access to the app’s core features. You can upgrade to the full version any time – just wait until you receive your PINsentry device or visit a Barclays branch or cash machine.

You can order a PINsentry device by calling us on 0345 600 2323 or by following these steps in Online Banking:

Select the ‘Move money’ tab at the top of the screen
Go to ‘View all online services’, then select ‘Order’ under the ‘Manage accounts’ section
    Select PINsentry card reader
    Follow the on-screen instructions

I do all my banking online but don't use any banking apps. Looks like I'll need to download the Barclays one though in order to simplify the switches in October when our current double rewards end.

As I'll be doing this for my wife's account as well as mine, does the app allow multiple users to use it on the same device?

No you can only have one instance of the app running on a smartphone f

for other banks for example Lloyds you can install one instance on your smartphone and a second instance in your secure folder - I am talking about Android devices

however Barclays doesn't let you install the app in the secure folder I don't know why it is always been that way

Hence for Barclays you can only have one instance of the app on your smartphone
