You might need the NHS for other treatment. There's no day surgery being undertaken currently. At our local hospital an ED Doctor has died after contracting the virus. There's no guarantee of immunity. Life is merely a thread that we all hang by.Sea_Shell said:westv said:Why focus on the deaths sad as they are? The important part is how many need hospital care. The whole point of the lockdown is ensure that number stays as low as possible to try and prevent services being overwhelmed.
On the one hand I know that we are "relatively" young(ish), fit and healthy, not overweight, not smokers, not heavy drinkers (despite what I might post here - we don't sit drinking wine/prosecco ALL the time!!!) and don't live in a badly polluted area. But on the other hand I know that ANYONE can have a bad immune response and end up in serious trouble, or worse.1 -
What if the shooter targetted those whom you love most? There might still be a crowd. but I assume you would wish you hadn't gone?0

None of my loved ones support Spurs so it could never happen.1

Deduct your current age from 100. The remaining number is the % chance of you surviving if you are put onto a ventilator in ICU. A totally sobering thought. Stay safe.

Is that an "average" though....clutching at straws here, admittedly, but I'd like to think that I was fitter than the "average" 48 yr old woman. I don't know what % of my demographic run between 15-20 miles a week!Thrugelmir said:Deduct your current age from 100. How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)1 -
In other news, it's so nice to have had the sun on my face for a few days. I don't feel so pale and pasty now, and got a bit of colour in my cheeks, after a long winter. So, we might have missed out on that trip to the Canaries, but we're making the most of the UK sunshine instead. How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)0

That was only a joke Sea_Shell but then I remembered that athletes do have a higher incidence of colds (URTIs) and heavy training does appear to lead to a diminshed immune response.

I've heard that before...but I'd hardly describe my running as "hard training" at the moment.
An elite athlete I am not!!
And don't worry, I read it as a joke! How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)1 -
