I am also new, this is my first post after lurking for awhile.
Thanks to advice in this and a previous thread I am expeting my free Sky+ as we speak.
I am also on £38 and wanted to keep sports. The first time I phoned I asked for Sky+ and got no where. Last week I called and went straight to cancellations, I told the lady I wanted to cancell as the price had gone up & it wasn't good value as the programs I wanted to watch were at the wrong times. She offered me Sky+ for £49, I ummed & arred a bit. She went away, when she came back she offered it for free!!!!
You do have to run the risk that they offer you nothing & cancell you.
Unfortunately, like others have said, the engineer turned up midweek & couldn't fit it "height problems". The special team were arranged for yeaserday, but after waiting unill 1pm I got a call to say the engineer was sick. It was re booked for today, between 8-5, it's now nearly 3, I'm not holding out much hope.
I suppose I can't get too mad ...... it is free.0 -
Rang Sky yesterday to cancel my Sky Sports package. The chap asked why and i told him i was ringing from work, and as i work most weekends i missed the Golf on sky sports which is what i got the package for. Without promting him, he offered free Sky+ and free installation. All in all it took under 15 mins and will be installed on Tuesday. Very happy0

SKY HD for EXISTING CUSTOMERS NOW DOWN £100
A week ago I tried to get Sky HD - as an existing SKY+ customer the cheapest I could get was £249 plus installation - rang up threating to cancel etc.all to no avail. Cancellations team number quoted at start of thread doesn't work anymore. Today checked web site and it is now £150 (plus installation).
A bit miffed in that as a Sky + customer there is little to do other than plug into the dish and register the card. If you only want the free HD channels .. BBC, Ch4, Luxe you can buy a box on Ebay and replace your Sky + box yourself, register your own card and thereby save £10 a month - costs about £255. I played it safe, still £100 cheaper than last week.
Sky HD is being offered at £75 plus £60 installation to both new and existing customers by the Sky salesbooth in Cardiff shopping centre. I was chuffed to say the least as I have been waiting 2 years for a decent deal for existing customers. Maybe Murdoch is listening to his customers finally?!0 -
I am paying £40 from September (38 now?) for the sky sports package as i like the cricket and footie. But I think this is too expensive now, even though I do like the sports I do need to cut down on my outgoings. So i was going to cancel, but wonder whether there is a chance they might reduce it if I plead poverty - have been with them years. Could I argue I could get Setanta for less, or is there a better line to use (not that bothereed about getting free sky + as wasnt to cut my bill) Thanks for any advice you can offer....0

Getting the sky + box is more about your sky history, they let me cancel and wouldn't give me box...
Had to phone back a week later and say i wanted to stay with them.
Anyway sky.......... argh.......... drive you mad, passing you from pillar to post...
probably worth paying in beginning than getting all wound up by their sh...e service..
god they get me mad..0 -

I asked the lady in the Sky booth at Peterborough on Monday if she had any HD deals for existing customers. She told me to go back this weekend as they would have a load of new deals by then. I'll ring her tomorrow if they're doing the above deal.0 -
My freesat ordinary sky digital has gone faulty (no signal at all) so I’m wondering if there’s any chance I might get skyplus installed for free?
I’ve been on freesat for well over a year now probably more near 2 years but I think they still have my customer number.
How much would it cost me a month once skyplus is installed? I used to have the family pack so something similar to that unless the movies have a really good offer on. What is the best deal I could get?Thanx

tried this excersise 8 weeks ago and got no where i tried again on saturday i rang customer services and told them i wanted to cancel when asked why i said my job was changing and i wouldnt be around to watch tv anymore i was passed onto someone in scotland in cancellations i again explained my situation and she told me about sky+ i played dumb and she explained how good it would be and the offer was £49 installed i told her it was too expensive and she spoke to her manager and amazingly i could have it for free if i had a premium channel for 1 month:beer: being fitted next sunday:T
ps only been with them 14 months0 -
That is incredibly unfair.
I was planning to PM you this weekend - more than happy to do it in public.
For context the referral was for my parents who wanted to treat themselves to Sky as they have retired.
They own an apartment in sheltered accomodation.
Sky refused to install - it transpires that one sky dish hidden in an attic feeds each of the individual apartments.
My parents have no choice but to take up an installation through the company that manages the complex.
They are trying to charge them £299 for the installation and this is for a bog standard SKy box - plus a yearly payment of £39 for the "privlege" of using a shared dish.
I found all this out on Thursday evening.
So I'm sorry you didn't get your freebie and I hope you have the decency of retracting your suggestion that I got something for nothing at your expense.
