yes a new 12 month subscription is the norm with this deal, however i have read some people on these forums before in the past 2-3 months have said they have managed to get it, and talked the sales people into not entering them into a new new 12 month subscription, not sure how they managed that, hth Dave.Take every day as it comes!!0 -
Phoned up the SKY number as mentioned above and enquired about SKY+ and they asked how much i would like to pay so i said i have heard people getting it for £49 to which the woamn said the only way I would get it for £49 is to subscribe to sky surf, sky broadband and multiroom.
I only wanted SKY+ without multiroom and they said it would be £179, a bit crap considering have been on a £38 package for 2 years and get offered nothing, think I will phone the cancellation number / retentions line and see if they offer something better, dont mind paying upto £100 for SKY+
sky will say anything to try and get you to cough up more money, we only used to have the basic £15 package, and we managed to get brand new sky + for £49 about 4 months ago, all we said was we wanted to cancel, due to work not seeing alot of tv, so they offered us it straight away, mind you we then upgraded to top package, but that was after, the sales peoplehad no knowledge we was planning on doing that, hth helps.Take every day as it comes!!0 -

Just tried to get through to the retentions team but got put through to an indian call centre which was no help at all and they just try and keep u on the phone as long as possible  so will call back when i finish work tomorrow night and heopefully get a bit of sense out of someone and try and get SKY+, you would think I was asking for the winning lottery numbers and it's not as if I am after SKY HD on the cheap:rotfl:0 -
brilliant cheers guys! got it for £49 box + installation!0

Is there any choice on make of SKY+ box0

Just wanted to confirm this worked for me as well. Had no intention of cancelling but called and asked when my contract ran out because I was going to cancel due to working shifts and always missing the programmes I want.
Was advised of Sky+ offer for £49 with free install.
Didn't want to push my luck as I didn't actually want to cancel so accepted this.
As she was putting through the order she came back and advised me that she had managed to get the box and installation for FREE :j
Installer coming next week.
Thanks to the OP0 -
FOR FREE
They might offer that to you - I asked them about it and they said I had to buy multiroom (£10 per month) and then they would cable my old box in another room for free. They said that I could always cancel within 30 days and would not have to pay a penny.
Hope this helps
Cheers

thanks i recieved a free sky+ box yesterday from sky, after i threatened to cancel, they even will install it in a few days!0

I used the freephone number (0808 1014438 - thanks OP!) & am now getting my Sky+ box installed completely free next week.
This is great as I really wanted Sky+ but couldn't afford it, I was considering trying to get my mum to get Sky so we could both get the free Sky+ box offer, but that would have cost for installation (not to mention my mother forever no doubt moaning about Sky to me)
Thank you very much OP for reminding me to try this again, last time round I was still in my 12 month contract period so they didn't take me seriously.
